Does anyone know if Schizm can run correctly on Windows 7?

I have loaded the game (long drawn out business) and the sound is there and the subtitles but no picture,
There is only a 2mm high line along the bottom of the screen which looks as though it should be the picture.
Not a lot of good, though.

According to the Gameboomers "Windows 7 and Games" thread
Quote:
Schizm Judith is playing the 4-CD version on her 64-bit with no problems.

Have you tried changing your desktop resolution before starting the game?
I think the game used 640x480.
You could also try compatibility mode and using the checkbox for 640x480.

Tried that - changing resolution and compatibility mode, but no success.
My copy of Schizm is 5 CDs, not 4. Different build for UK version?

Never mind - I'll try and fix the old XP machine.

Thanks for trying.

Still does not run properly on XP.
I can load the game OK - same slow response as Windows 7 - but as soon as I saved a game, and then turned off the machine (for the input of sustenance), I cannot return to the game. Clicking on the icon just tells me how to load the game. I tried that, and reloaded just CD 1, but the same problem occurred. Again, I cannot find the save when I return the next day, just the requirement to reload.

Desperation time: I have literally dusted off my vintage W98 machine, and will try that.

If you take a look at the bottom of Jenny's review you will see some of her installation tips which might help:

Also in a much older post InlandAZ recommends a patch which might work for you(fingers crossed):

Good luck

My problem with the XP machine turned out to be the result of carelessness.
As I rarely use IE, because of lack of support from Microsoft, I had neglected to disable the Avast system when loading the game.
I am pretty sure that I must have seen the Avast blocking note when I was loading the game, so must have ignored it.

Careless!

Anyway , it seems to be running OK now - not that I making any calculations on the future numbers of my egg-laying flock yet.

PS I tried to find the patch earlier, as recommended above, but was informed that "The choosen (sic) patch - the CD version - was not available". It implied that a patch for the DVD was available. Still, doesn't matter anyway
