Hi, Behind the library there is supposed to be a blinking red circular marker. I cannot find it. When you press on it a line is supposed to appear. Can anyone help? Emeraldawn

I am at the Stoneship age. I have been to both bedrooms. I have the red page and need to get back to the Myst Island, but I cannot find the compass room. The walkthru says to click on some recessed plate 1 landing up from either bedroom. I have been all over those tunnels and I am just not seeing these plates to click on. I go to a landing and click right and I do not see it. I click left and I do not see it. I have done this on every landing. I do not have a very good directional sense and I am so lost. The plate looks to be inbetween the stairs to Room 1 and Room 2, but I just can't get there. Can anyone help? Thanks, Emeraldawn

It is a metal door that covers what looks like a crawl space and blends in well with the walls. As you descend the steps to the right-hand bedroom, the panel should be on your left. I don't remember how many steps down (half way?). You may just have to pixel hunt to find it.

Emeraldawn, When I played Myst I looked for that door for several days and just couldn't see it. The way I finally found it was, after exiting the bedroom door, I went one click at a time (like BillyBob said) and examined the walls on both sides from top to bottom with a magnifying glass. As BB said, it's VERY hard to see. It's small and dark red (square I think) and low on the wall - if I remember correctly, it's very close to the bottom of the wall. Jema

GeeGee, check out this walkthrough--it's in Dutch, but has a picture of the sliders and the number of clicks it takes to get them there. Just remember to count the very bottom position as number one. GeeGee, one suggestion that might help you was made by our dear Tom Sr.--go to "Control Panel" on your computer and then to "mouse" and turn the speed of your mouse way down. Just be sure you put it back where it was before you try to play any further.

GeeGee, This is called the Channelwood puzzle, one of my favorites. The tree opening should be moving up and/or down. If it's going too fast, slow it down by turning the wheel back a bit. You want to get into it when it's headed down. (You can also ride it up for a spectacular view.) It goes below the ground. When you get there, you'll see what you have to do next.

The big wheel can be rotated both directions. You have to get the cursor in the right spot so that it shows it will turn in the reverse direction and, I think, the direction indicator turn red when turning it off and green when turning it on. Don't quote me on this color business, though. Been a long time. After you turn off the gas you have to hurry out to the tree and when the opening gets to you click to get in and ride down.

GeeGee, The wheel regulates the flow of the gas as Billy Bob said. You want to slow it down but not stop it completely so that you have enough time to get into the tree elevator.

It's probably the marker switches, GeeGee. They should all be on, except the one at the dock, which should be off...
