Peter Davison (Doctor #5 in Doctor Who) is a police detective constable (the lowest rank) nick named by his fellow officers "Dangerous Davies" (real first name unknown) precisely because they think he's harmless. He's a nice guy. He's boss doesn't think he's good at his job so gives him what he expects is a dead in case. It actually turns into a murder investigation. Unfortunately for Davies the murder turns out to be a fellow cop and because he didn't inform his superior he was actually working a murder, his boss who gets chewed out by his boss, for not informing him, decided that Davies is "the last detective I will ever think of". He will only give Davies the worst cases. Which naturally he will end up solving.

Taking down a fellow cop doesn't endear him to his fellow officers.

Davies is estranged from his wife, not living with her, who has sole custody of the dog but lets him take it for walks when she wants it out of the house so she can bring home dates. She doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get the divorce finalized however.

The pilot episodes guess starts David Troughton, son of Patrick Troughton the second Doctor in Doctor Who.

Did you find this on Netflix?

Funny to see DCI Banks as a murder suspect in the Last Detective. Same episode also has actress who was later Sophie Devereaux in Leverage.

I watched The Last Detective already. Very good stuff. And you are right, fun to see 'familiar' faces in different roles.

Is anyone watching 'The Nowhere Boys'? Fun little 1/2 hour episodes with a group of teens who develop powers and can cast spells, etc. Lots of fun with displaced time and things. Very entertaining and not much thinking needed to enjoy it. Earth..Fire...water...air. You will see.

WARNING! This person is extremely blonde...please type SLOWLY.

Sadly, neither of those are available on Canadian Netflix. I'm almost done Waking the Dead, and will be looking for another series.

Right now enjoying New Tricks. Just right mix of humor and drama. And I love the theme song.
