See if you can connect ten gruesome words to a corresponding ghastly pun. Then see if you can forgive me for writing (and yourself for playing) this appalling quiz. An example will be worked in the first question.
For each question, a definition or synonym of the answer will be place within quotes in ALL CAPS. A word play utilizing the answer will be in ALL CAPS without quotes. For instance:

On Halloween, as we rowed through the darkness on THE SMALLEST OF NORTH AMERICA'S GREAT LAKES, the night seemed somehow "UNCANNY". It made me feel __________.

5 letters, beginning with "E"

"The smallest of America's Great Lakes (Lake Erie)" is the word play. "Uncanny" is a synonym for "eerie", which is the answer.

-1.A "GHOST" would make a perfect SPY. Then he could be a ____________ in two senses. (5 letters, beginning with "S")

-2.It was a "HORRIFYING" experience, being stretched out on the rack. But afterwards, I measured myself and found I had GROWN SOMEWHAT IN HEIGHT. I found the experience _____________. 8 G

-3.I performed the "SHOCKINGLY REPELLENT" execution of Stagger Lee. Yes, it was I who RELEASED THE POISONOUS VAPORS THAT KILLED LEE. What I did was ____________. 7 G

-4."PREOCCUPIED WITH THOUGHTS OF DEATH", I was captivated by the coffin offered at the auction, and I was compelled to make one ADDITIONAL OFFER. My fascination was ____________. 6 M

-5.The MACAW SHIVERED in his tree as he watched the "DEATHLIKE" dance being performed on the forest floor below. Truly, it was a ___________ scene. 7 M

6.My Italian friend sat so motionless at the table that for a moment he looked to be "ABOUT TO DIE". Then, he suddenly straightened, and in his thick accent, loudly demanded ANOTHER DINNER ROLL. It was then I realized his state had been ____________. 8 M

-7.Leaning against the bear's lifeless carcass, the hunter sat savagely chewing the STRINGY, and CARTILAGE LACED meat. I found his behavior "REPUGNANT", to say the least. It was a ___________ scene. 6 G

-8.Having drained her blood, the "CHILD OF THE NIGHT" carried the limp body of the would-be seductress to THE STACK OF WOOD LAID OUT FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE LOOSE WOMAN'S CREMATION. I could only be in the presence of a ____________. 7 V

-9.The mindless look of a "ZOMBIE" on her face, my MOTHER'S SISTER KEPT GUNNING THE ENGINE. But then, I had long suspected that she might be a ______________. 8 R

-10.The ghost- butcher's "UNEARTHLY", heavy carving knife plunged into the cover of Mr. Cleaver's book, "Soul On Ice", striking the FIRST NAME OF THE AUTHOR. Ah, yes. The knife was indeed an ______________ cleaver. (8 letters, beginning with "E". The word contains a "t".)

I change all my passwords to "incorrect". So whenever I forget, it says, "your password is incorrect".

As I've grown older, I've found that my memory is not as good as I used to think it was.

Sometimes lost is where you need to be. Just because you don't know your direction doesn't mean you don't have one.
