Winter Blonde

As a trucker stops for a red light, a blonde catches up. She jumps out
of
her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door.

The trucker lowers the window, and she says "Hi, my name is Heather and
you
are losing some of your load."

The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street.

When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again.

She jumps out of her car, runs up and knocks on the door.

Again, the trucker lowers the window. As if they've never spoken, the
blonde
says brightly, "Hi my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your
load.

Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again and continues down the
street.

At the third red light, the same thing happens again.

All out of breath, the blonde gets out of her car, runs up, and knocks
on the truck door.

The trucker rolls down the window.. Again she says "Hi, my name is
Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"

When the light turns green the trucker revs up and races to the next
light.

When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, and runs
back to the blonde.

He knocks on her window, and after she lowers it, he says...

"Hi, my name is Mark, it's Winter in WISCONSIN and

I'm driving the SALT TRUCK!

GentleThoughts for Today

Birds of a feather flock together . . . and then poo on your car.

A penny saved is a government oversight.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.

He who hesitates is probably right.

If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.

The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble..

Did you ever notice: When you put the 2 words 'The' and 'IRS' together it spells 'Theirs...'

Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to your youth, think of Algebra.

You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young. Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

The Hotel Bill
An elderly lady decided to give herself a big treat for her significant birthday by staying overnight in one of Chicago 's most expensive hotel.
When she checked out next morning, the desk clerk handed her a bill for $250.00.
She exploded and demanded to know why the charge was so high. "It's a nice hotel but the rooms certainly aren't worth $250.00 for just an overnight stop without even breakfast."
The clerk told her that $250.00 is the 'standard rate' so she insisted on speaking to the Manager.
The Manager appeared and forewarned by the desk clerk announced: "the hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference center which are available for use."
''But I didn't use them," she said.
''Well, they are here, and you could have," explained the Manager.
He went on to explain that she could also have seen one of the in-hotel shows for which the hotel is famous. "We have the best entertainers from New York , Los Angeles , and Las Vegas performing here," the Manager said.
"But I didn't go to any of those shows," she said.
Well, we have them, and you could have," the Manager replied.
No matter what amenity the Manager mentioned, she replied, "But I didn't use it!"
The Manager was unmoved, so she decided to pay, wrote a check and gave it to the Manager.
The Manager was surprised when he looked at the check. " But madam, this check is only made out for $50.00." '
'That's correct. I charged you $200.00 for sleeping with me," she replied.
"But I didn't!" exclaims the very surprised Manager.
"Well, too bad, I was here, and you could have."

I don't know whether to laugh or cry...

You, who worry about democrats versus republicans -- relax, here is our real problem.

In a Purdue University classroom, they were discussing the qualifications to be President of the United States . It was pretty simple. The candidate must be a natural born citizen of at least 35 years of age.

However, one girl in the class immediately started in on how unfair was the requirement to be a natural born citizen. In short, her opinion was that this requirement prevented many capable individuals from becoming president.

The class was taking it in and letting her rant, and not many jaws hit the floor when she wrapped up her argument by stating, "What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified to lead this country than one born by C-section?"

Yep, these are the same kinds of 18-year-olds that are now voting in our elections! They breed and they walk among US...

Lord--we need more help than we thought we did!

RETIRED/BORED HUSBAND

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target.

Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse.

Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:

Dear Mrs. Harris,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behaviour and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Harris, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras:

1. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway

6. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' EMTs were called.

9.. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11. October 3: Darted around the Store suspiciously while loudly humming the ' Mission Impossible' theme.

12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels on his chest.

13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, he yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!'

14. October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a
fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!'

15. Took a box of condoms to the check out clerk and asked where the fitting room was?

And last, but not least:

16. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.'

One of the clerks passed out.

It's going to be a great warm day -in the 70's- but cold again tonight and 2 more days then warm warm -oh good spring is peeking. Hurry up. i can't imagine you snowbounders. Where will all the water go when it melts?

Oh Karen, may the pain and aggrivation from kidneys heal up. That kidney pain is severe, I had an infection once. you can't sit or lay down as it hurts so much. Remember we are Viking Buddies -the Danish side.

Kits aren't eating much this AM because they are more interested in the outside -it's warm and foggy, real kitty sneaking around weather. And chirping birds -Ah the sound of music.

Well, on to some "Why bother" tasks. L4L, I will never forget that. 2 of my daughters are super clean like my mother and my youngest daughter always had a maid. These ladies clean, laundry, some even picked up the front yard. I can't imagine. Years ago when Jamie and family lived in Austin, I went over every Wednesday and we did special projects around her house/yard. And this Wed. we cleaned the garage and I was to wash the windows. So Jamie brought out an extensive supply of window cleaners, maybe 6-7 and stated none of them were very good as they streaked. So I suggested plain old vinegar and hot water. "Oh I never thought of that"! Kinda funny. We did a good job, very neat-very clean. Then she took a big piece of chalk and marked off where every bicycle scooter etc should go -wonder how long that lasted. But it looked great.

Happy Wednesday all

had a good day yesterday. Needed some extra money to pay bills coming due before the end of the month so I gathered up more of my little stash of 14k earrings, a designer necklace of sterling with huge puffy animals on it (cute but hadn't worn it in 20 years), a few other little trinkets AND my wedding ring from the second time around. I designed it, very pretty filagree pattern with 7 little diamonds across the top. Match to my engagement ring (which I still wear) but the wedding band I'd never wear again, and 4 nice antique wristwatches. So I take it all into the Jewelers (a buy only shop for a big company)and it's an easy downtown and walk-in place. No sales, just a buyer. Been there before.

Nice young guy looks over all the stuff and says they aren't buying watches right now, but will in a month or two so not to get rid of them since he's VERY interested in them. Seems Waltham and Bulova are some they really like. So then we are left to the other gold stuff. Seven tiny earrings of various animal, shell, star, design are all good. Didn't weigh much of course but he gave me 'jewelry' price for them. Necklace was about 45 bucks worth of silver, and the wedding ring...nice little chunk of change at 300. I left with an even 400 which covers all my remaining bills and then some. With watches I was hoping for about 500 so the 400 was good. Actually he offered 360 but I batted my eyelashes a bit and got him to go up to 400 even. I like even amounts.

So I mentioned my old coin collections (tons of stuff from all over the world) and he wants to see what I have. I'll have to sort it all out. Good project for today. Most is just plain old coins, but some might contain enough silver to get me some cash. He will sort them all out. I have a few silver dollars which he says are worth about 15 bucks for silver content. They aren't rare or in great shape. I might go for the 15. Need money more than the jewelry and coins which just sit hidden away. Sold most of my really good jewelry in 2011 (he looked it up). They keep really good records. Nice place, fair, tells you why the prices etc. Fast cash, but you have to have ID and they take your thumb print. Hope they don't find out my secret identity as a famous cat (or Peacock) burglar! rotfl

Wonderful Wednesday ya'll puppy

It was over 70 when I woke up this morning. I did some of my normal morning stuff and then grabbed the doggies and headed out to the park. Wiiiiiiiiiiiiindy! But it was 80 by the time we got back. Supposed to be raining and cold by tomorrow.

I think there is some bread and yogurt making scheduled for the afternoon. Easier to do on warm days.

Joe, so glad the weekend has found you. Carbs make me sleep better for sure.

Haroula, wave

Doc, big ole hugs.

Venus, hope work is wonderful!

Gerry, have a great day.

Connie, thanks for the bacon sandwiches.

Midgy, I hope they can help!

Gail, hope the snow ends soon for you.

Darlene, happy skooshing.

Yankee, hope the "why bothers" are quickly done and you can get to the "oh, goody" stuff. My mom was super super clean. Setting a dish in her sink was a hanging offense. If you used it, you washed it and put it away. She literally took everything out of the house at least twice a year so the entire place could be scrubbed, and pulled out the washer, dryer and fridge at least once a month. I know she spends her days in heaven looking down at me and going "what happened?"

I actually did have a system at one time and as long as I stuck to it, the house and kids were spotless. I, however, was miserable so decided I'd much rather have a 'why bother' house and a happy life. . I remember opening a book about how to keep everything clean and organzied and the first rule was "no pets." So not happening in my life. puppy

Nan, how ya doing?

Sorta, glad you were able to put some of your stuff to good use. How is Penelope today?

Hey everybody. wave

I see by the post in the diner that Old Man Winter is not done with us yet. shiver

We're having another round tonight, and it's already rainy windy and very cold. Rain is turning to sleet, and is supposed to turn to snow tonight. shocked

I spent time gaming this morning, and then got up and started cleaning, and doing laundry. Then Baby and I went to Walmart to stock up, and get some gas. $160 later we got back home. rolleyes

I fixed some lunch after putting up groceries, and now there is nothing to do but continue cleaning, gaming, or sleeping, and I admit the latter is most appealing. sleep

I won't be doing anything outside for the rest of today, and most of tomorrow as well because of the bad weather. razz

I hope everyone is warm and safe from the bad weather wherever you are. yes

Good day all!

Joe, you crack me up! Winter is far from gone here. Back down to 1 degree tonight and it's been nothing but ice and snow here for weeks. I'm sick of it. Not going to complain to much, at least I don't live in the East.

Busy day today, I hope you are all enjoying it!

L4L, our mothers were soul sisters and I was an only child so I had to help with the housework. Yes we too had spring cleaning and fall cleaning and a thorough cleaning befor any holiday. She sure knew how to spoil good times and she walked around the house with a dustcloth tucked in the belt of her dress. She'ed tell me to dust something or other and out of spite I wouldn't do it and then she'd run her fingers over the item but of course it was clean to begin with. And sadly I started out the same way but then I read what this lady said -she never remembered if the house was clean but she sure remembers the walks in the woods. Wow. That did it. And 3 cheers for "Why Bother".

Penelope doing better today again. Was up on the roof at breakfast time. Managed to fly down and up to her feeding table. Annoyed the cats just a little. She's still hesitant to get too close to me and definitely not attacking for food. Standing back and being careful. Friend came up for a trip to Costco and Penelope definitely avoided HIM. Must have been a male who did something to her. I'm still betting on someone kicking her in the breastbone. She's doing well. Still on schedule for visits but staying the entire day here in the safety of the fully fenced deck. Hope she continues to improve, but I'm liking her NOT jumping at me for food.

Fun stuff from the police scanner: "Go to Sharp Hospital for assistance with a 23 year old female who just had a baby and has locked herself in the bathroom and is smoking METH!" Must have been a hard delivery? Imagine the poor baby with a mom who just couldn't wait a moment to do her drugs. So funny but sad.
