In J'nanin return trip # 2 there is suppose to be a bridge to the orb after you put the page from Amateria into the scanner and press the blue button. After that Saavedro gives his speech. The bridge does not appear and I cannot get to the orb in return trip # 3 after the Voltaic Age to go to Narayan. Can some one help? Is there a glitch and if so what can I do? I've come this far and want to finish the game. Thank you.

Welcome, katielou to GameBoomers

You can do all the pages all at once or you can do them after each age.

Check if the previous symbol-pages that you used or tried to use here can be redone.

Here's what Jason and Soren say about the activation of the symbols after each age:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Put each of the three sheets of paper on the pad by clicking and dragging them there -- once you've had them all "scanned," the Narayan linking book will be available to you. (You'll need to be in "cursor mode" and not "free-look mode" to access the inventory at the bottom of your screen. Press the right mouse button or CAPS LOCK to switch between these two modes.)

Again you link back to Saavedro's retreat. As before, move between the two blue disks, then place the just acquired sheet with the symbol on the larger disk. A copy is made to the screen below, and the lattice-work football opens, but you cannot yet get to the book in the center of it. A holographic Saavedro appears above to taunt Atrus again.

If you still have porblems - post and I will call the big guns.

Thanks so much for responding to my problem. I have went back over everything & still can't get the bridge to come up. I would sure hate to start over again from scratch!!! lol

I am pretty sure I have a glitch in the game but maybe it would be better if you would bring in some big guns. lol

Thanks again

Hi there, katielou......I think I may have gone through this with you yesterday, via email? laugh In any case, if you have consulted other walkthroughs and are absolutely sure you have not missed something, its probably time to ask for a save game. I don't have one, but I am pretty sure there are other Boomers who might.

Use the little link at the upper right corner of the forum page to use the "Search" function. Key in "Myst III" and/or "Myst 3" You will come up with a lot of past history on the game. If you don't find a save game source mentioned in the content of the messages, you can email anyone (just click on the EMAIL icon above their message) who has played the game to see if they might have a save game. I know they are out there, but its been quite a while since someone needed a bypass for the bridge to Narayan.

Sorry I couldn't provide the save.
And, WELCOME TO GAMEBOOMERS!

Best wishes, Witchen

Katielou,

If I remember correctly, that bridge will come up only if you have all the pages done on the scanner. The first sets of pages will only do something to the thingie at the center.

Be sure to rescan all of the pages - just to be sure.

Kathy,

If you scanned the symbols correctly from each age:

1. The central cage-tulip-whatever rises.
2. Then it should open.
3. The bridge should comeout for you to access the thingie at the center.

If none of the above happened - the scanning process is not done correctly.

Is there anyone out there that has a saved game for myst 3 exile? I am suppose to have a bridge that crosses over to the orb but it just will NOT appear. I have scanned all papers that I'm suppose to but just can't get the bridge to operate. I have gone thru the game several times to make sure I haven't missed anything & I haven't so it's got to be a glitch.

I have gotten grey hairs from all this! lol just kidding.

please help me someone

Kathy, there are 3 pages to scan, one from each of the three ages: Voltaic, Amateria, and Edanna. The order of scanning is not important but you must scan all 3.

After scanning the first one, the cage containing the linking book rises.
After the second scanning, the cage opens.
Then the third page scanned extends the walkway.
You also get to watch a video clip after each scan.

Hi BillyBee and Tom........Do either of you recall this problem with the bridge being attributable, perhaps, to a glitch in the game...depending on what path you followed through the three middle Ages? I can't find anything on it now in the history files, but Katie had already mentioned in her email that she'd completed/scanned all three Ages. Thanks for offering the save game, Billy.

Love, Witchen

Witchen.......

I definitely remember having a problem with this part of the game but it had nothing to do with a glitch, just me. Once I figured it out it went fine! laugh

I didn't do it......and if I did I'm not guilty!

From what I remember,(usually not very much lol ) by the time I got back from the Third Age, I had forgotten everything I had already done with the pages, and had to give it several attempts before getting the game to continue. Looked at all the WTs we had to get it done.
So don't despair, Katie.

Shorah smile

for whatever its worth, I've run into a glitch at the same point in Exile, so there may well be a weakness there.

In my case the game very occasionally crashes to desktop when I put in the third page. I always save right before that point so I dont have to back up too much. (and I have one after it in case plan A fails)

I had the copy of Exile that didnt always give the correct marble key to get into Voltaic.
I've also had my mouse develop sloth-like characteristics in Tomahna & gone into dizzying whirls in Edanna

Other than that, it runs fine......

But it's so pretty a game, I find it worth putting up with a few bugs. heh

*swats her arm*

Sirrusly, its a fun puzzler. I wish we had more games like it! laugh
