Hi, fellow Boomers,
I purchased the game "Belladonna", from Steam. The game won't start at all. I contacted Steam Support, and I received a quick reply. The answer from the tech was that he has no idea about why it won't start. He tried it on a WIN XP PC (as is MINE),and he said the game started normally.
Has anyone here who has this game had the same experience?
Sandy

Make sure your antivirus isn't blocking it.
That's about all I can think of.

Does it give you an error message, or does it just "spin" and never start?

If you continue to have problems, the developer has an email link on their website. Also, if you haven't already tried, I would recommend deleting the local content from your computer and then re-downloading/installing.

Thanks to all of you for your input. I do NOT get an ERROR message, nor do I get "spinning". I have already uninstalled the game completely, and have re-installed it, but it STILL won't start. I will try to contact the developer and maybe I'll get "lucky". Thanks again.
Sandy

YAY, I found the problem and "fixed" it. In the game folder, there is a file called "config.ini". I accessed that file and changed the default RESOLUTION setting from (AUTO) to "DESKTOP". The game is now starting and running just fine. BTW, if you make any changes to the "config.ini" file, make sure you go to "FILE > SAVE, and THEN close the window.

MAD, I surprised myself in getting this game to work. It was one of those "Trial And Error" moments. LOL Just finished this very short game.

Sandy,

What did you think of the game? I've been thinking of getting it. It looks interesting, but like you said, people have been commenting that it's short.

The game itself was just OK. I've played worse ones in my time, and a lot of better ones, also. It is REALLY short, though. To spend seven dollars for this game is questionable. You could probably see a video walkthrough of the entire game rather than buying it (in my not so humble opinion).

I agree with Sanford. The story is interesting and unusual. But it is told almost exclusively by diary pages you find in different screens. There are a few inventory puzzles which are easy once you've found the items. The game probably won't take much more than an hour, even if you aren't terribly good at adventures. The gameworld isn't very large, so as long as you are methodical about searching screens, you shouldn't have much trouble. The ending is abrupt -- Yes, the final screen tells you pretty much all you need to know about what happened next, but it's not very satisfying and leaves you with the feeling -- "What? Don't I get to see..."

It's still a nice little game with an unusual story.
It's a good choice if you don't have a lot of time to play and finish a game.
Currently $6.99 at Steam.

Thanks for your inputs. I think I'll pass on this one now, but keep it in mind for possibly later on. I've already got a long list of games waiting to be played.
