A few up and coming BBC Dramas
The Night Manager
A mini-series will bring together love, loss and revenge in a complex story of modern criminality. The eagerly anticipated series follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) who is recruited by an intelligence operative named Burr (Colman) to navigate the shadowy recesses of Whitehall and Washington, where an unholy alliance operates between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. To infiltrate the inner circle of lethal arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie), which includes girlfriend Jed (Debicki) and an associate named Corcoran (Hollander), Pine must himself become a criminal.

Ordinary Lies
The first episode of the six-part series tells the story of family man and salesman Marty McLean (Jason Manford), who, when confronted with the possibility of losing his job, tells the drastic lie that his wife, Katrina, has tragically died. His colleagues are filled with shock and sympathy for Marty, but as they rally round to help the apparently grieving widower, his lie quickly unravels.

An Inspector Calls
This is a mysterious detective thriller, set in 1912 and written by English dramatist JB Priestley. Following the suicide of a young woman from the local town, an inspector calls unexpectedly to interrogate the wealthy Birling family. As their world unravels, each member of the family is revealed to have unwittingly played a part in her death. Set at a time when society was transforming and women's lives were about to change forever, An Inspector Calls is considered to be one of the classics of 20th century theatre.
******
I have seen three, adaptations of An Inspector Calls, but for me the old black and white movie staring the great English actor Alastair Sim as the inspector is by far the best. It may seem a bit slow at first for American audiences but the tension builds towards a stunning climax.

War and Peace
Principal photography has begun on Andrew Davies’ landmark adaptation of War And Peace, which will bring the classic to life for a modern audience on a truly epic scale. The series is being filmed on location in Russia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Maybe one or more to keep an eye open for.
