Well folks, I went back and started at a save and have finally arrived at the train. I have raised the train and have gotten the dynamite and iron cutter. I have gotten the rod and wrench and did my thing at the switching post. One time (not sure how I did it) the train came to the end of a tunnel - there is wood and something that looks like a plank hiked up into the air. I have also run into the barrier (several times) and have been at the door. My question is: Where is the main intersection or turntable? I have stopped at each platform, clicked on the red light, but I can't seem to get off to look around or do what I'm supposed to do. All it does is show me the different directions. I have no idea where east is. I did use the compass once, but now can't seem to get it to work again. <img border="0" alt="pacify" title="" src="graemlins/pacify.gif" /> Thanks.

Have you tried the walkthrough here: http://members.aol.com/LShaw3457/LIGHTHOUSE.html

There are specific directions and things to do once you're in the tunnels of the volcano.

Yes, Linda I have walkthroughs and one from the Spoiler, but it says to go back to the main intersection (platform). Well, it seems that I've run across 3 of them unless I keep crossing the same one all the time. And when I stop at any of them, click on the light and I'm outside the train, but only on top of the train, and with the arrow it points me in different directions I could go. Is there an easy way to tell which one if the main turntable? Sorry, I have to be told right or left, not east, North, etc. I realize in this game, left and right are not going to do it, sooooo.

Butterfly,

There is only one main intesection (turntable).
I got confused here also. One of the walkthrus
has a map of the volcano tracks (but I don't
remember which one). If you print it out it will
make things MUCH easier for you. There is also
a map on the wall in the valve room which I also
printed out. Good luck.

Butterfly,

The map in the valve room I mentioned above
appears in Tom Sr's walkthru. I still don't know
where I found the other one.

Hi CCBomber: Sometimes it's like you start to put something together and then it's like, oh, yes, the directions. I have been using Tom's walkthrough and had glanced at the map, but didn't pay much attention to it. It has helped. I now have Amanda, and am on my way to the drawbridge. He says in his walkthough to stop at the double intersection and get a hex bar in a box by the switch box - what is a hex bar? The only thing that I clicked on and went into my inventory looks like wire cutters and I've already used them, not only that, they're too big to fit into the switch box. Then it says to get the wrench out of the train's box. It's there, but when I click on it, nothing happens. Thought I had already used it, but am assuming it wouldn't still be in the box nor in my inventory. Is the switch light really noticeable if unlit or lit? I've tried looking, but can't really tell. Thanks to anyone who has suggestions.

Butterfly,

A hex bar is just a metal bar, but instead of
being 'cylindrical' it is 'hexagonal' (six sided).
The idea is to insert the bar into the switch box
and then using the wrench to 'turn' it. Did you
do this yet? If not, you won't be able to get to
the drawbridge. If you're at the intersection you
must first get out of the train (don't look in
you're inventory or the tool box attached to the
train), look for a box away from the train, look
inside and take the hex bar. Did you find it?

I'll stop here for you're reply.

Hi CC: Apparently I must have already done that because I have been to the drawbridge (face in) and have been trying to get the back end of the train in. Apparently there is some hook that I'm suppose to use/do with. I remember having stopped at that intersection before and opening up the switch toolbox and taking out something - must have been the hex bar. So apparently the light must be working. Oh yes, forgot to mention I didn't realize that the turntable was the same one I kept on going over again and again. No wonder I thought there was 3 of them. Well, back to the game and again to try and get the back end of the train at the drawbridge.

Did get the train in backwards, got the drawbridge down, and finally got going, but unfortunately in trying to find my way back to the drawbridge - which I did, the train derailed. Went back to my last save, so now I have to find the drawbridge again, what do I look for along the sides to let me know the drawbridge is coming up so I don't crash again. Guess I was going too fast before and didn't even realize I had gone over the drawbridge. I also noticed, and maybe I'm doing it wrong, but when I'm at the turntable and I'm suppose to go, let's say east, I click on the red button and I'm outside the train. I click to the right and I'm looking at a different "tunnel" to head into. I've noticed that when I use the compass - on the outside it can say east, but when I click off the red light and I'm back inside the train again, the compass says I'm going north/south. I'm assuming to turn in a different direction, that I am doing it correctly, by clicking on the red light, being outside and then clicking either to the right or left is changing the direction of the train? It seems even when I do that, I'm still not going in the direction I should be going. Maybe I'm not using the compass correctly. Usually on a compass you have an arrow that points in the direction you should be going and on this one there is a long indicator and a short one. If I'm going east, the E should be at the top? If so, when I get back in the train again, the compass changes. Oh me!!!!

Butterfly,

Depending on where you are with your saved game,
if you have fixed the drawbridge and are ready to
cross it, don't cross it going backwards. Instead,
go back to the turntable. You want to be able to
approach the drawbridge going forward, not
backwards. So now if you're at the turntable you
want to turn the train around 180 degrees. I'm
looking at the map in Tom's walkthru and (I think)
you need to be pointing east. The compass does NOT
turn the train. You must get out of the train and
look for a control that is close to the lever that
raises and lowers the turntable. You must open it
and turn a crank to rotate the turntable (you may
have to use an inventory item here, I don't
remember exactly). As far as the compass goes, I
think it shows the direction YOU are looking at.
So if you're outside the train, it will show a
different direction as you click in differnt
directions. Inside the train, of course, you are
always looking out the front of the train.

Now, assuming if any of the above dribble has
helped you, go back to the drawbridge (going
forward) and proceed CAREFULLY forward until you
SEE a broken rail ahead of you. Stop the train
immediately, get out and fix the track. I'll stop
here and hope I've helped (not hindered) you a
little.

evil I need to bump this topic up because now I am having problems getting the train to switch in reverse. I have Amanda, have fixed the switch box, seen the drawbridge face in. I have the train in the correct, I think direction, rear facing west, front facing east. I am able to go in reverse past the three way, then forward past the switch box on the left (can also switch to forward where I came from to the right). I am unable to operated the switch in the train to reverse myself onto the other track. Is there some special way to do this, I only hear a faint click when I click on the switching lever. Butterfly how did you do it? <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />
