I am new here and have a terrible problem with the St. George's shield in Quest two, White Book.
I have the shield [I've done it over and over] but it ends up in the inventory as shaded which usually means you've already used it and when I go to fight Anglemar, it isn't available and Bradwen gets killed. What am I doing wrong?? I'm going nuts.

The first thing that occurs to me is to wonder if that shield ever made it into your inventory. Did you see an automated transfer on the top left of the screen, which indicates that the item has been placed in inventory?

If that's not it, did you talk to Novelius about Anglemar? If it's not one of those, then we'll have to wait for someone who has played the game to show up...

Thanks for the reply. Yep the shield flies over everytime.......but if I look at it , it is shaded. And yes I did talk to Novelius about Anglemar. Several times!! HELP!

Have you positioned Bradwen in different place in front of Anglemar? His position affects what inventory can be taken and what action can be done. Try to move him around to see what changes in reaction or inventory happens.

I was actually trying to get my Arthur's Knight's 1 to play for you. I only have 1 save for Chapter 1 and 1 save for Chapter 2 in the White Book.

The C2 save was after the shield fight. I couldn't play C1 to your part because the game crashes. If you want the saved game - please post again. It is at the amphitheatre while talking to a man.

Sure, you bet, I'll try anything at this point. And I have tried several positions for Bradwen but I'll try again. Maybe I haven't hit it yet. What is supposed to happen? Does the shield automatically protect him or do I have to do something special??

BTW, Have you talked to Anglemar completely before this part. Maybe if you go back to a saved game and replay to this part something might get jarred on the way and you can fight to your heart's content.

What happens is --- You face Anglemar, talk to him and then select fight at circle at bottom left - use the shield. Fight will then be automatic. Not much of a fight and Anglemar will fall down dead when a light comes from the shield and hits him.

I thought I had talked to him completely and I have gone back and done saved games but maybe I better go back further. [I save a lot 'cause I've been burned in other games] I hate having to go over the same ground again but I'll try it.

Well I guess I have to give up. I have re-done all my saves, come at Anglemar for every possible angle, but I can't get the shield to activate. By the time I click on the sword to fight, I get my head chopped off and can't seem to avoid it. I don't know what else to try. Is there anyway to by-pass this spot?? I have never had such a roadblock before.

I can send you the saved game I have - it will be somewhere at the Amphitheatre right after the fight. You can check the dialogues, inventory and go around to see where I am in the walkthrough.

I really don't know any bypass for this part.

I too am still playing AK 1.
I'm up to Quest 5 White Book (already played Red Book).
It seems a while since I got through Quest 2 but I can't remember there being any problems playing this particular part
Using MaGtRo's walkthrough and it's worked a treat up to now.
I guess I've been lucky playing this one.

MaG where are you??!! I am NOT very good at this game Arthur's Knights. You saved my .....once with a saved game and here I am after finals and back to playing.......and I am stuck in combat again. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???!!! Combat is not working for me. I have covered every conceivable position to kill the giant in Quest 3 chapter 1 but I keep getting knocked off. I have Lancelot's sword but I can't seem to make it work...whimper whimper.......

Hope finals was a breeze.

After you challenge Galwich, use Lancelot's sword from inventory and you shoould defeat him.

When you do combat:
Challenge first.
Then you will get a graphic at bottom left with a sword or mouth icon. If you select the mouth, no combat will happen and you can do diplomacy .
If you select the sword, then choose from inventory the item you think will defeat the opponent. The fight is automatic.

I do not have a saved game here. If you want send me a saved game made out of 2 files - code file and picture file (like what we did before) so that I can try to do the combat part.

I did what I described before:
1. talked to Galwich.
2. selected sword with mouse.
3. selected chastifoil or whatever name it is - Lancelot's sword.
4. Just sat back - and let the game fight automatically - didn't touch
anything - no mouse - no keyboard.

Galwich is dead now. Bad, bad me!
