Any search in the archives has to be triggered first. The correct dialogue has to be said so that Holmes would know what to look for.

Depending on what you need to search - check or talk to the person that might trigger it or look for an item that will do the same.

Tell me what you want to access at the archives. That way I will know where you are in the game and maybe tell you what dialogue will trigger the search.

The clues to check the newspaper for Dawson 1883 are:
- have examined the complete inscription inside Neligan's ring.
- have interrogated Neligan and learned about the ring's ownership.

When you do the ring - be sure that you read from start to end of the inscription. This might be 3 movement inside the ring to complete. Good luck.

There are several things to trigger the harpoon throw.
- Check the shelf at the cabin that has the ship logs from the Sea Unicorn from 1878-1884.
- Check the map right of door.
- Check the harpoon stuck on the body.
- Check the harpoon on the wall.
Good luck.

Hi Mag....have done all of these several times. Why the task Swift action and later whale talk with Watson is not being available could be
something like the ring problem...
.in my interrogations the ring did not come up so to ask about it....later, doing same things again the ring did come up so could ask about it and that solved my problem. Am wondering if something going on between my PC and game. Will do all your mentions again but
it seems I need the other two deals I mentioned..to get harpoon...let know..thanks..Chuck...

The above clues I posted is for you to get the harpoon test dialogue between Holmes and Watson.
After that is said, you can then take the harpoon from the wall.

Hi all,
I want to compare the map of London at Baker Street with the map found in Sir Rodney's belongings. I have been to the morgue and evidence rooms and have interrogated everyone; but I don't remember seeing his particular things, and I don't have that map..although I remember finding one with the little purple "Albens' on it...any help out there?

Gaily,

The map to be compared is found at Sir Rodney's belong - check your inventory.
The map at Baker ST is located left of exit door - on the wall.
The comparing can be done only after you have checked the dirt from Sir Rodney's fingernail.

Thank you MaG! I just went back and checked. (It's frustrating that you have to get all of the way out of the game each time)Maybe I'm checking the wrong part of the inventory, but I don't seem to have anything from him; I thought that I checked his nail a long time ago, and now back at the morgue I am not given the option. The map on the wall at BS simply calls itself a map of London. I've missed something somewhere....grrrhh any ideas?

gaily,

Check all belongings. You might mistake Bentcliffe and Blinkhorn's boxes. Keep us posted.

The map on the wall can only be used when it is ready to be compared.
