I just can't believe I am so stuck in a child's game! How lame is that???

I'm playing Famous Five Treasure Island...and got George from the cave, ate lunch and am now stuck in the hall, the whole gang...can't get out of the house, can't get anybody to move or do anything...and the walkthrough mentioned on an earlier thread seems to bear no resemblance to this game...I just don't get it!!

Help!!

Waves, did you look at the FIVE ON A TREASURE ISLAND SOLUTION which is part-way down the page? There are a lot of things that have to be done before you leave the house, and you have to become different people to do them...

Hmmm I hadn't read the WT when I found the link - but it does refer to things that aren't in the game version I have. BUT - the steps of that version are in there. Gee I want this longer sounding version.

It's been a while since I played this game. If you can't leave the house you have prbably missed something in the hallway, your Uncle's study, the upstairs or the kitchen. In these games you need to try each conversation or search each area with as many of the four kids as you can get to do each thing. One person will get results, find an item or may get the right trigger conversation that the others won't.

I got stuck more than a couple of times in this game and the other FF games as well. They aren't that easy - even if they are labeled as kids games. laugh

Say Laura,

Is the version you played a graphical game or a text adventure? I looked at that walkthrough also and the site was for spectrum games or was it? I got the impression in that walkthrough that it was for a different game, possibly a text adventure. It gave the name Treasure Hunt.

What I have is a graphical adventure named The Famous 5: Treasure Island. Released 1999 by Ravensburger Interactive Media.

Thank you,

Bill

I read where you are stuck and I am not sure where you are in the game. One thing I know is that there is a hints file on the CD disc. It is in a folder labeled "help". You can click on the image file at the bottom of the file folder labeled index.

I got stuck in the kitchen for a while - when I was trying to get the dog to have my sandwich. If you are past that point - tell me where you are.

If you are stuck not being able to leave - you need to get Quenton to drink some tea and while he is drinking slip the sandwich to Timmy. Then you'll be able to leave.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply...I've gotten out of the kitchen, and am now in the hall....can hear the renter snoring, and can't get anywhere else...can't get out, can't go on! I'll try the hints on the cd...can't even figure out how to change characters!

I forgot to answer Mr. Bill - yes my games are the Ravensburger releases and are graphical adventures.

I think you just click on the characters and you become a new one. I may just re-install the game and see if that is for sure. I just recall that you have to use different kids to do or say different things within the game. The TKKG games are the same way.

I thought that the person snoring was your Uncle in his study? Hmmm ok - let me check this part then.

OK I re-installed the game. I believe you are in the hallway as George. The problem is getting into the study. I was able to go outside and such. You need something to keep a door from squeaking.

I think the game lets you change characters when it is needed. The cursor blinks when you can interact with someone. I can't recall how it is that you change characters - But I am fairly certain there are parts where more than one person has something to do. It may occur automatically or perhaps they appear at the bottom of the screen and you click on the one you wish to use. But for now from my save at that point it looks like you are just supposed to be George.

Hi!

Well, I just about give up...characters won't switch, (I did get into the study with fixing the squeek)...just can't get out of the hall and can't seem to get past this part. Don't know what the heck I am missing...but did check the hints on the cd...still no luck. Oh, well.

Ok I got it figured out. I decided to replay my old save from that point.

You need to have George look closely at the door to the professers room. Specifically - the key hole and a crack at the bottom. Use the newspaper on the crack and then the knife on the key hole.

Thanks, Laura, for all your help and patience!!

No problem Barb smile

I went ahead and played through the rest of the game to refresh my memory - so I can help you with any hints you might need from here on. smile
