Hi there.
I hope there is somebody out there who can help me.
I am trying to install Myst 5 but everytime I try to install it I get a message thet reads 'A previous installation of Myst 5 has been detected on this computer. Please uninstall the product first if you would like to proceed with the new installation'.
I have tried to find this game by searching for it on my Hard Drive but to no avail, is there anywhere else I can look.
I have tried this installation with both a CD version and also with a downloaded version.
Hoping in anticipation that someone can help me.

I've moved you over to Glitches, because this sounds like it might be a technical problem.

I did find this online; maybe this will help. But I would still wait to see what the experts have to say, as you need to be very careful if you make changes to your registry.

Myst 5 failed installation

Do you see it in Control Panel --> (Add\Remove) Programs?

Thanks for your tip.
That was the first place I looked.

Then I think it's worth trying the info site Marian found.
Or try REVO uninstaller.
Or Ccleaner (registry - "scan for issues")

Marian, Jenny 100.
Sorry for not replying quicker to the information to my query that you forwarded.
I ran the 'Myst 5 Failed Installation' info, but when I got to the part that said 'Browse windows folder for a file named 'vpd properties' I got a message that said " This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs Control Panel,"
I am hoping that you might be able to tell me how to complete this action.
Thanks in aniticipation.

Revo is your best bet - it has an option to do a deep scan in the registry to remove an application completely.

You can find the user guide below -
Revo Uninstaller - User's Guide

Just and edit here -

It almost sounds as if you "left" clicked the VPD Properties file, which would explain the message. In the threads I've reviewed, they've all stated to "delete" the file. To do that one, you need to "right" click it, and select "delete", which sends it to the recycle bin.
