Hi Folks,

I am trying to set this up for writing, editing our website pages. frown Starting all over. frown
When I open a previously written website page and want to edit it with notepad, the only option under File in Internet Explorer 11 is to Edit with Microsoft Word, which I don't want. I like simple. smile So I want notepad. How do I get it

Thank you so much.

I will probably have many more questions.

Mr. Bill

Right-click file --> Open With --> Choose default program --> Browse
File location is C:\Windows\system32

Thank You Jenny,

But, if I right click the file I do not get an Open or Open With option. In IE 8 with XP I had the option under File when looking at one of my webpages to Edit with Notepad, now IE 11 says Edit with Microsoft Office Word. I want to change this to Notepad so I don't have to fuss over the hundreds of pages individually. In the good old days view source gave you notepad, but, not anymore.

Bill

See if this works
Quote:
Go to Tools, Internet Options, click on "Programs" Tab, under HTML Editor, click drop down menu and select your editor of choice

Hi Jenny,

Thank you, We discovered this at the same time. I came back to tell you about it, but you were a bit faster than I. They were having a skuttlebut about this at Microsoft Forum and the initial complicated answer given was causing problems before someone said all you gotta do is this... (What you said)

Again Thank You.

Now only 500 more things to do. Are you ready?

Bill

Well, as with this issue, you'll probably figure most of them out yourself.

Win 7 "looks" different, but is not as big of a change as later Windows. And the Start Search is very nice for finding things.

I still miss the "Desktop Properties" that was in XP and earlier.

A little note of warning. The "Right-click file --> Open With --> Choose default program --> Browse" will associate *.htm and *.html with Notepad instead of your browser. Double clicking any saved web pages will open the code in Notepad instead of properly displaying in a browser. Setting the default editor in the Internet Options is the preferred way. The later method will allow you to not only use the "View Source" menu item in your browser, but also you can open a page for editing by selecting "Edit" in the context menu for the selected web page from within a Windows Explorer window.
