I have been really enjoying this game until now, the annoying lock puzzle where you have to shape the wire to get into the cabin on the ship. I've looked at the image on the walkthrou and spend a couple of hours total on this, to no avail, at this point I'm happy to just get past it. Is there a way around this puzzle without having to solve it, because I'm beyond frustrated.

I think you have to solve this one. Did you download the game from Steam? Or from somewhere else? The reason I am asking is because the Steam saved games for this don't seem to work for those who have purchased the game elsewhere.

I have a saved game for this point.

Mine is not the Steam version.

If you want to try it I can email it.

Just let me know smile

If it doesn't work, I have a saved game from Steam that worked great for me. Let me know and I can send that. That puzzle is frustrating!

Thanks for the offers to help.I didn't it from Stream, I downloaded from Gog games.
I'm about to go out of town for a week, (work trip) but I'll give it another try when I get back, and let you know if I need a saved game.

I wonder if there are alternate endings, or alternate paths though the game, in the 1st part on the train, I never did find the missing purse, but it let me continue anyway. I only mention it because a saved game from another player may take me though a different path.

As far as I can remember there is only one path to the ending.
Be safe on your work travel.

Loved The Raven up to this point, but the bent wire lock puzzle has me beyond frustrated, to the point where I'm tempted to just delete the game from my hard drive. I've tried putting it aside for a while then coming back to it, but to no avail, after more than 2 dozen attempts, I'm about to give up.

Yes, I could get a saved game, but then I'm completing someone else's game, not mine. (apparently there are several paths though the game, for example, I never found the missing purse in part one, but was able to progress anyway). Grrrr.

I HATE games with show-stopper puzzles with no work around.

There's a video walkthrough of this game on YouTube - I am not sure if I linked you to the right portion of the walkthrough specific to your problem - but there is a walkthrough for the entire game. Maybe it would help with the puzzle (which does sound very frustrating).

My game isn't from Steam OR from GOG. I think I downloaded it via "humble". I'm not sure.

But I can email you the save to try, if you want, nolalou. Just let me know smile

Cheers.

Thanks for the video link, looks like whoever made it also had to make several attempts, I was getting a headache just looking at it! Sorry, but this puzzle is just too frustrating for me, I have no further desire to work on it.

I might succumb to a saved game, if anyone has the GOG version, otherwise, this game is going to sit unfinished, unless I just decide to delete it. Very disappointed in what was otherwise a very good game.

Louis

Please try to get the saved game that you get to work. There is a LOT more to the game and it has a great ending. It is definitely worth trying to get the saved game to work. You might have to rename the saved game. but, please try.

I guess my only hope is a saved game. I just spent another 1/2 hour with it, and my only result is a headache!

Thanks for the saved game. It got me past the lock puzzle.

Now I have anther question, it seems as I leave the doctor's exam room, the game ends. (says end of chapter 1).
How do I start chapter 2? Do I need to purchase additional chapters???

Louis

If you bought the game from GOG, I believe it contains all three chapters. I don't know how you access chapter two, though, as I don't have the game.

Try and play a new game. Then select chapter 2. See if that works.

Thanks, starting a new game and choosing Chapter 2 did the trick, not at all intuitive! I'm now off to solve a mystery!
