Hi.

I'm wondering if there's any way I can "tone down" the bright white screen (Win7) when I'm working with documents ??
[I don't need to reduce brightness for anything else.]

When I have a lot of them to see to I find the glaring whiteness starts to get to me !!

Cheers.

Are you asking how to add a tinted background to MS Word documents?

That setting is usually in your Monitor options.

Hi - And thank you both for such swift replies !! grin

Jenny100 :

My version of "Word" is very old (it's from 2003). [I should have mentioned that, sorry.]
And I don't think it offers the options shown in that video.
It's mostly fine for what I need these days - but it looks like it doesn't offer the ability to tone down the bright white lol

Draclvr :

Yes, I thought about monitor controls myself but wouldn't dimming the brightness affect everything, not just documents ??

Cheers.

Mad smile

Yes, there's the rub and unfortunately Microsoft stopped supporting Office 2003 at the same time as XP.

Word 2003 does have options for background color.
From http://tipsforwordprocessing.com/word_2003_0072.html

Quote:
1. Select "Format" - "Background".

2. Select your desired background color, or choose "More Colors" to choose a different color.

Note that, by default, background colors will NOT be printed - this tip shows how to enable that feature.
