i cannot get this game to run on window 8, the patch doesn;t work, the patch says it is not a retail version which it is, when i start it without the patch i get it has stop working. it finally work on my window xp.

I don't know of a "patch" for Vampire Saga Pandora's Box.
Maybe there is one for the CD version.

Usually casual game downloads don't have patches because websites like Big Fish update their game download.

I have seen so-called "patches" for casual games that are intended to remove activation requirements. But they won't get a game running if the problem is due to something else and aren't likely to help with any other problem. I'd be very careful of downloading such "patches" and would stick to trusted websites like the developer's website.

It's not always the version of Windows that's at fault. Sometimes it's the drivers for that version of Windows that cause a problem. However if a game lists XP as compatible, and you have Windows 7 or 8, you can try compatibility modes. Sometimes that helps.

It sounds like you got the game working though.
Hope you have no further problems with the game.
XP is great for older games.

i got this game from viva media and the patch from window 8 and games forum.

I'd be very leery of downloading a patch that wasn't published by the author/publisher - According to the Windows 8 Compatibility Center, the game is fully supported (see below).

there is no patch for Vampire Saga: Pandora's Box there.
There is a patch for Microsoft's "Pandora's Box" game from 1999, but that is a completely different game.

that is the patch i was trying to use.

That's why it didn't work - that is a completely different game.
