I am so overwhelmed with making choices.
Just bought a new computer and am taking it back.
I got the Asus desktop model M32BF-B03. It restarts all the time for no reason and freezes.
Needless to say I don't have tons of cash but want a decent computer to play these lovely
games that we all adore.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Barbara

Let me say at once I am no I.T buff Barbara, but I looked up your model on the web and reached the conclusion that you are paying for something that you would never use a tenth of what this PC is capable of providing.

I would hazard a guess that you could get a decent second hand PC from Ebay that would do all that you wanted it too for a fraction of the price. A three year old PC will give you all you want, trust me and all you need to do is to check the specs of the graphics card and the Ram or get a friend to do that for you. But it’s almost certain that a three year old PC will handle all you need easily.

I haven’t bought a new PC for years. I have two S/H PCs and the cost of the two combined was around 180 dollars. I use part of the money saved to buy some specialist software to suit my own needs.

Hope this helps.

Cari.

Specs-wise that isn't an unreasonable computer.
(I found specs ***here***). If you got it for the $500 listed on that page, the price seems quite reasonable.

However the HD 8670D graphics seems to be an integrated card according to ***this*** and other sources.

One ***Amazon reviewer*** who had a similar model (ASUS M32BF-US001S) with the same HD 8670D onboard graphics (***Newegg lists the specs***) also had the random restarting issue, and it went away when the person added a separate video card. So there might be a problem with the onboard HD 8670D graphics in the M32BF series that's causing the reboots.

If you bought the computer from some place like Best Buy, which does onsite repairs, you might ask them if they can add a separate video card to see if it fixes the reboot issue. Be sure they know what types of games you play, because if they think all you play is casual games and solitaire they may add something that's completely inadequate to play adventure games like "Vanishing of Ethan Carter" or "Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments."

Very good advice from Jenny. I wouldn't get rid of this desktop just yet. And that HD 8670D graphics is indeed integrated into the AMD processor. If someone could pop in a separate graphics card to see if that would help, it would be worth a try.

And as Jenny says, if that's the issue, DON'T let them talk you into a low end card that won't play any of the newer games. This desktop is not high end or anything, but is a pretty decent one.

If you do end up getting a new computer, I'd suggest having one custom built for you. There are some very good fairly recent threads down here in Glitches that you might take a look at to see what others have done.
