I'm combining this threads with the one that was moved to Glitches.

Unfortunately I don't know how to fix the red X problem.
I think this is a Flash-based game, so maybe some of the troubleshooting tips on the Adobe website will help. It seems mainly for online games, but maybe some of the suggestions like #6 Removing Flash Player cache or #7 Disabling Flash Player hardware acceleration would apply.

If this is a game played in a browser, could it have anything to do with Firefox blocking Flash?

It might have to do with an antivirus blocking parts of Flash, since Flash has proven itself to be one security hole after another.

It might also be a problem with a bad install.

Maybe this is why they stopped selling it and discontinued tech support -- too many people with the same problem you have.

Hi Winfrey.

Did you try holding the left mouse down for a minimum 1 second until you get 3 icons, one to look at, another to speak with and the last to interact with? I don't know if you tried this.

Drummerboy, thank you I cannot believe it was as simple as me not holding the mouse key down long enough I am surprised that this would be an issue. Guess my impatient finger needs to slow down a bit....

Thanks Drummerboy!

WOW, Winfrey. Who would have thought of THAT solution "fixing" your problem. Well, I'm glad you got this game running, so enjoy it. It's a game that's SHORT and "sweet". I played it some years ago when (as far as I can remember) it was not a "talkie".

Well, I celebrated too soon snicker

Although the game is now playing well, if I quit and then re-launch it my saved games have all disappeared !!

I read somewhere (and now I can't think where) that saves had to be made whilst NOT in "full screen mode".
So I've tested saving in ALL available screen sizes but the end result is the same.
No save games when I came back to play after having quit frown

Has anyone else experienced this problem think

I do not think that resolution could be important for saves. I can load my saved games both in windowed and full screen mode.
For Flash-made games, it is file location and file's name which is important. Saved games are located very far away - they are in "C:\Users\*yourname*\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\*someletters*\localhost\Games\***\What Makes You Tick WIN.exe" where "Games\***\" is the path to the game on your disk.

Thanks for responding, Iurii smile

I followed the path you show and got as far as #SharedObjects. But I couldn't go any further because #SharedObjects was empty.

When I am "in the game" I can re-load any of the saves I've made during that play session but if I quit and then re-launch there are no saves - just an empty page where they used to be !!

Mad, are you on Windows 7 like me? Those saves are probably in other locations in XP or 10... Or maybe they are not being saved for some reason.

Yes. I have Win7 "Enterprise".

But even if the saved games are stored in a different place, surely they should still be available when I re-launch the game ??

Quitting must be DOING something to them crazy

Hmm, maybe your Flash does not have space to save games? You can press right mouse button in the game to see Flash menu - select 'Options' (or something, I don't know what is it called in English) and see if Flash is allowed to use disk space. If not - it just can't save! I have 1MB there which is more than enough.

Phew !! I now have saves after quitting and re-launching yay

I went on-line, looking at "saves and Flash games" and it seems that "cookies" are involved.
So I tweaked CCleaner to ignore the files and that seems to have done the trick happydance

I've done several test saves and in-between have run CCleaner, shut my machine down, rebooted AND the saves withstood everything !!!!

Very pleased about that thumbsup

EDIT :

Well no need to fuss any more !!
When I read it was a "short" game I didn't realise HOW short shocked

All done 'n dusted now lol
