Hi everyone. I just bought a new laptop so that I could play Witcher 3, and it does work, but for some reason my movement is slow. I'm at the beginning and just got the key so that I can leave the room, and Geralt is moving slowly but his ponytail is flying around like crazy. lol Also, when I turn him, that action seems faster than it should be, and so I'm not sure what's going on. I have all of the specs for the new laptop here and I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look at them and make sure they really ARE enough for this game. Also, if you guys know of any settings that I might need to change in the game to help with this, I'd love to have that as well. smile

Thanks in advance!
Tracy

Unfortunately there's not much you can do.
You can't add a video card to a laptop.

Tracy, that's really unfortunate - because the very last thing you want for graphics-intensive games is integrated video (which is what you have). What you need is a relatively high-end dedicated video card if you want to play the latest RPGs. Having said that, I wouldn't recommend integrated video even if all you were playing were games from Big Fish, sorry to say.

I can only add to what Jenny and Marian said - you did not get a laptop capable of playing Witcher 3. The specs for the game are much higher than your integrated graphics. This is unfortunate if someone told you the laptop could play Witcher 3 or games like it. I think you're stuck...

Depending where you bought your Laptop, and if "New, means less than 30 days" and you bought it a reputable place you can get a refund or put it towards and Upgraded Laptop, one place I know of is Costco (just to name one store of many I am sure) and they give you 90 days to return it..

I hope Starcom is right, Tracy because this isn't even close to being a gaming laptop.

Thanks for all of your replies, everyone. It's frustrating, but at least I know for sure that this computer won't be able to handle the game. I appreciate you guys so much!

I did call Best Buy and I can bring it back, so I think I'll do that today. Not sure where to go from here, but I am thinking of a desktop, just so I can take out and insert new video cards if I need to.

btw, would you guys mind posting about what computers you have? I don't know much about them and feel a little overwhelmed sometimes! : )

Thanks again everyone,

Tracy

Really glad to hear that you can return the laptop.

I am sure that some techies here can advise you on what would constitute a good desktop for gaming, along with suggestions on where to purchase it. wave

Draclvr would be better able to help you than I would.
My newest computer is over 3 years old, and though the video card is fine for adventures, it isn't nearly good enough for Witcher 3 or similar demanding games.

If you intend to run the game at medium to full graphics options, you'll need to look at one equipped with a GTX 980M GPU (or at a minimum a GTX 880M), a good core i7 processor and plenty of Ram (both System & Video).

Of the models I've seen with those specs, most run in the 2K range -

Here's a list of several options for reference, there may be more elsewhere at a lower price, but this looks reasonable for what you're getting smile

I don't think a desktop would be that much.

Didn't see that one smile Yes, it's always going to be cheaper to get a desktop. Just make sure you stick with a high end video card (the game itself apparently doesn't have high CPU requirements - it's all video)...

How much were you planning to budget for?
