I'm stuck in "Dust: A Tale of the Wired West" where you are in the labyrinth and have to get the mask on the skeleton. Whenever I try and put the mask on the skeleton, it won't stay on. Is there more than one skeleton, and perhaps I have the wrong one? I looked on the web for a solution, but couldn't find anything to say there was possibly more than one skeleton.

Thanks,
Call1e

Looking at a walkthrough (I have played this game and love it, but it's been a long time since I played), there is more than one skeleton. The walkthrough says this:

Quote:
The mask eye turns green when it points the way to the skeleton. Put the mask on the skeleton at the center (not the moving skeleton)

Thanks for the information, but I'm still stuck in the maze.

When I find the skeleton, and try to put the mask on the face, it won't attach to the face. I can't find the hotspot to click on. I've even tried to go back and play from a saved game but that didn't work either.

If there is more than one skeleton in the maze how do I tell them apart?

This is what the walkthrough by crash states:
Put the mask on the skeleton at the centre ( not the moving skeleton ).

It is the skeleton in the center with the green eyes. I can't find the hotspot to put the mask on over the eyes. Perhaps, I missed a step, so maybe this weekend when I have time I'll try and go back from an earlier saved game and redo all of the previous items in the Indian temple and see what happens.

Thanks,
Call1e

Well, I've tried from a saved game and now I can't find the skeleton in the maze at all. I just keep wondering around for about 30 minutes without seeing the skeleton. The mask's eyes are orange and not green when wondering through the maze, also. Perhaps someone could give me the route for the maze so I can see the skeleton and try and put the mask on it? I heard the voice saying something about "now you can release the fallen one" when I started the maze, so I know I'm in the right place in the game, but 30 minutes seems like a long time to wonder around because the other puzzles didn't take that long.

Thanks,
Call1e

A walkthrough by Burns states:
Mask: Fall, 1/4 moon, midnight
Enter the passageway, and note that your
mask tips each time you pass an intersection in the
labyrinth, and its eyes will turn green. Eventually, you
will reach a skeleton. If you heard comments during game
play about the use of the Yuni mask, you will understand
why the mask goes on the skeleton.*
.

I also found another walkthrough that states - "give" the mask to the skeleton. Maybe that "giving" is enough.

Still trying. Have even located some walkthroughs on You Tube, but still can't get to the skeleton, and keep going through the maze without any luck. Tried going by the video walkthrough and playing from a saved game but still can't locate the skeleton in the fall tunnel.

Maybe you can write down the directions given by the skull on the video walkthrough. That might get you to the skeleton. Double check also that you got all the clues that led you to look for this skeleton and the meaning of it. luck

The directions it takes me are different every time. Most of the time, it takes me for a couple of turns and then goes straight on forever. I've kept going straight on for 30 minutes--which seems like a long time to be on one puzzle when the other puzzles are finished in less time. The video walkthrough goes too fast to write down all the turns--they turn more times than I do. I just seem to keep going in a straight line forever, which is very frustrating when I really want to be able to finish the game. Thanks.

You can try to:
- record the video walkthrough (if the puzzle is not random) and playback slowly.
- play your puzzle slowly and watch the skull carefully. Turn when it tells you to.

I found this page at You Tube that shows the skeleton in the maze. It is in French, but the voices are in English, and it shows the first skeleton that I can't put the mask on., as well as the second skeleton (which I haven't found yet) that the person who made the video was able to put the mask on.

When I have more time this weekend, I'll download the video and study it more closely.

Anyone wishing to view the video and give me a hint that I might have missed can view it here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3SIFHGf-G8&index=9&list=PLAQ1E2aVHy_wHdcYGmaqoRNxAk0TgyRPm

The part I'm talking about is at timer 5:38 in the video playback.

Thanks,
Call1e

I'll take a look at the video. I wish I had a better memory of this part of the game, but it's been over a decade since I played and finished it. I'll let you know if I think of anything that might help.

I went by the video and found the walking skeleton right away, but so far I haven't run into the one I'm supposed to put the mask on. (The video showed both skeletons. You just run right over the walking skeleton and keep going through the maze until you find the one that you put the mask on. I think what I was doing wrong was not leaving the black book in my inventory and putting the mask in there before I got into the maze.) I'm going to keep trying to find the skeleton to put the mask on over the weekend so I can finish the game. It's frustrating to get beat by so simple a part of a game, and I really want to finish this soon!

Thanks,
Call1e

Well, I'm still trying to find the non-walking skeleton. I even tried following the walking skeleton, hoping it would lead me to it, but all it did was lead me around the maze without finding it. I'm going to keep trying, though. I forgot to add that when I followed the walking skeleton, the mask eyes didn't light up. Maybe that was because I was following the skeleton instead of the mask?

Went back and played from an earlier saved game so I could talk to a character that had information on the mask, but the game went on as I've been playing it--seeing the walking skeleton but not finding the skeleton to put the mask on. I've ordered a copy of the Dust Strategy Guide book so maybe it will help when it gets here.

Really sorry I couldn't remember what to do here - it's just been too long since I played. That's great that you were able to get a hold of the strategy guide. wave

My Dust Strategy Guide book came in today and it said to not follow the skeleton because you will be following it forever. I'm still trying to work my way through the maze and to find the "Fallen One." It doesn't give a particular path to follow, just says to follow the direction of the mask. I'm going to keep trying until I get it!

I'm still stuck in the skeleton maze. I took a screenshot of the Fallen One but can't get the mask to stay on the face when I click it. I don't know how to put the screenshot here, though, so if you will tell me, I'll post it so you can see where I'm stuck.

Thanks,
Call1e

You would need to upload your screenshot to a site like Photobucket and then post a link to it here, and the screenshot should be sized such that it's no larger than 25k (in order to save on bandwidth).

I could be wrong, but if you can't get the mask to stay on, then (barring a glitch in the game, of course), there is something else amiss - and I'm not sure what that is, unfortunately.

Here is the picture of the skeleton in the maze/mine that I haven't been able to get up and running:

Hopefully someone has played the Dust game and can help me get unstuck from here.

(My HTLML is very rusty, so I finally found where Photobucket has the correct link to copy and paste. That's why I had to edit it so many times.)

Thanks,
Call1e

This is what I deduced from the video walkthrough.
- Arranged the disk to this:

- Enter the door framed with icons seen on the top of disk above.

- Get mask.

Now these are the path taken by the walkthrough as far as I can gather:
- see a lit hallway.
- turn left and go forward.
- meet a skeleton dressed like what you have on the picture above. The wt ignored that one. The mask did not react.
- Go -- F F R L R F F L F F R F F L F F R R F - meet the skeleton.
- Place mask like this:
