I have a browser hijacker when I use Firefox. I do remember doing something yesterday that had to do with "plug in container". Now, I've run everything after uninstalling Firefox and it removed several items but if I reinstall Firefox I end up with the same problem again. Is there anything I can do other than getting rid of Firefox totally?

Malwarebytes ought to do the trick - Malwarebytes Download Get the freeware version, and pay attention to anything else it might want to install. IIRC it had a few unwanted items it would install.

Thanks Inland. That was the one thing that I had not run when I posted earlier and did run it. I think that did the trick! I ran everything else and had so much "[blip]" on the pc (adware, software bundles, Trojans pups) one big mess after another. I seem to be so good at getting myself into trouble, so glad you guys are here to help me dig my way out! I didn't know I couldn't use the Cra_ word.

You might want to consider running Malwarebytes at least once a week to keep this stuff from accumulating. It can really slow your computer down too.

I was looking up something on Prussia and got a window saying that I could not use that page bacause I had a virus or trojan and I needed to call a number that they gave. My question is, could this be part of the Hijacker problem or is this another one? I think it said Microsoft, and that type I've gotten before, it seems something about this one was different.

Terri, I am not an expert but I'm pretty sure that is malware. Hopefully the experts will know more.

I ran ESET online scanner on Firefox, I tried on IE and thought the reason it might not have worked is because I have to use IE9, cannot update. Anyway, it found VBS/kryptik dy trojan very quickly and automatically removed it. I showed the target to be Adw Cleaner\quartantine\users\terri\appd. Now I am wondering since I've sent out emails would it have the trojan infection? Also even though it removed it, should I uninstall and reinstall later when I need it? Thanks Collector for the info.

That path shows that AdwCleaner had already found and quarantined it. So, no problem.

Yes Collector, that one I actually found myself on bleeping computers a year or so ago and it is definitely a keeper. I haven't found anything that works as well as AdwCleaner! Terri
