Hi all,
I might have uncovered a minor glitch in Shades of Black.
I had gone to the Red Shed and opened the right door and used the key on the lock. I took out the steel wool and IMMEDIATELY used it on the military tag. The tag cleaned off, but I was stuck. I could not left-click or right-click off the picture of the tag. The cursor disappeared and I could not back out. When I pressed the space bar, two blue dots appeared on the screen rotating. sounds funny. All I could do was hit Escape and load an earlier game.
I was able to get past this, though, by loading the earlier game. I then retrieved the steel wool and backed out of the red shed. THEN, when I cleaned the tag, the screen returned to normal as it should have.
Maybe this is just something freaky with my machine but I thought I'd report it.

Paul

Paul,

Mikael fixed a problem I had with the dog tag. I will alert him on this one.
Go back to a saved game and replay. luck

Paul, can you remember exactly what you did, step by step? Are you able to replicate it?

ok. The problem might be fixed if it is the same one that MaG was mentioning.
I tried to outline the steps in my first post but here they are.
1) Open the rightmost door of the Red Shed at Black's childhood home.
2) Use the key to open the drawer and remove the steel wool.
3) Immediately, combine the steel wool and dog tag in Inventory. The dog tag gets cleaned and then the game locks so that I can't click out.

I was able to continue playing by loading an earlier save. Then, I followed these steps:
1) Open the right most door of the Red Shed.
2) Use the key to open the drawer and remove the steel wool.
3) Back out of the Red Shed.
4) Combine the steel wool and dog tag to clean the dog tag. Then, the game would let me continue.

I have not tried to replicate it. I will try this afternoon and see if the same thing happens.

Follow up. I tried the same steps again. It worked fine. so something must have just freaked out on my computer and locked it up. It looks like the code is just fine. smile
I guess I need to be whipped by Mistress Allegra. LOL

Paul, there is a tiny glitch that can appear if you accidentally double click while combining the items. That's probably what happened to you.

You could be right. With my shaky fingers, a double-click was certainly possible. Thanks for checking into this and sorry for the trouble.
