I don't know why you posted this in Hints, but I recommend you watch Dilandau3000's playthrough on YouTube ***here***.
It may or may not inspire you to play it yourself, but at least you can see how it's played.

I moved this thread to Adventure Game Discussions - maybe some Uru players can give you some advice on how to fully enjoy this game. smile

I must admit to being surprised. I know we all have different tastes, but I have long felt that URU was one of the most beautiful games ever made. I've played it LOTS of times and many parts, especially the scenery and the music in the museum, never fail to inspire. Sorry you didn't like it, deleterman. It's still my favorite game ever. (Except perhaps for "Drowned God," but nobody else liked that one.)

Hope it works. I'm sure it's worth the trouble.

Jenny100 !!! Thanks so much for that link for the video walkthrough on youtube.
I could never finish Uru the Complete Chronicles..just too dumb I guess...and was so frustrated. But, thanks to you and the link and the person who made the videos I may (I say may) be able to have a go at it again with better results. HOWEVER, I really, really do hope that deveopers will give those of us with dexterity issues will Stop making a game where a Jump or a very, very short timed sequence puzzle is the only answer to continuing forward in the game. How's about a hidden stairway ?? or a hidden bridge??? Would that be soooo awfully hard ? Don't think that would take away enjoyment for players, in fact, it may Gain you some players!! A Win-Win the way I see it!!
But if anyone has not seen those videos give yourself a treat and view them....gosh I was amazed how much I had not seen!! and the maker of the videos not only showed you the game he actually gave some explanations of some things! Just a really EXCELLENT walkthrough. EXCELLENT. and again Thanks to you, Jenny100, for sharing the link!

the utube walkthrough is great ,but the game it self is crappy ,controls are very bad...so bad it would take me a year to finish...and with the timed sequence puzzles YIKES..if U play it good luck.

I don't remember any short timed sequences in Uru.
However I do remember a really long timed sequence where you had to wait 15 minutes for something to happen.

I find it very frustrating in games when you're so hobbled you can't even jump over a pebble. But the biggest problem with jumping in Uru is the lack of a real save. If you miss a jump, you have to start all over from Relto, then link to the nearest journey cloth -- two level loads. I have no problem with alternate solutions, but I'd hate to be unable to jump, and so would all the fans who figured out how to climb the buildings in D'Ni by jumping.

I've played it at least seven times, so obviously I disagree with you about the quality of the game. It's one of my favorites, despite the lack of a save. The keyboard controls are fine, the mouse adaptation not so much. IMO holding down a mouse button to move is very clumsy and using the keyboard to move is much easier.

Unfortunately if you can't handle keyboard controls there are a lot of newer games you won't be able to play.

Hey Jenny...the one that springs to mind is the Pressure Plate puzzle and those lid covers in the age with the steam vents and lava...Yikes! ..and also I was including other games in my post as well....(sorry for not being more clear). Don't mean no jumps for games but ALSO make some kind of work around available for those of us who can't.
I still enjoyed Uru anyway, what I was able to play of it...
Have even (several years ago) played the online version - Uru Live ...that was a lot of fun. getting to meet fellow boomers and get help...just too bad you could not be able to have someone 'do' a jump or timed puzzle and have it be Saved to your own game there. THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME!! I found it very entertaining and the boomers kind and helpful, and funny!
