Having given up games for several years then recently begun playing again, I want to make the following observation on casual game inventory that I hope reaches the eyes of casual developers. Unless there is a critical shortage of knives, screwdrivers, crowbars, glass cutters (diamonds from rings included), and garden shears in the realm, do not lock them up in elaborate cases or puzzles without attaching some narrative significance to said sequestration. At the very least, have the artistry to bedeck these utilitarian objects in a manner suitable to the story's setting. Frankly, I suggest that a story realm imperiled by such critical resource short-falls set up harmoniously decorative or creepy recycling bins for these tools (a small one labelled "Phillip's heads" included, please) and stop teleporting away items that could be employed five or ten story minutes later.

That said, casual games with adventure elements are in general far better than a few years ago.

Yes, I meant the "special effects" black smoke - which at one time seemed to be being utilised in every Casual I bought !! snicker

Thank you, BrownEyedTigre smile

And then--like a vengeful spirit from a boring dimension or a poorly motivated demon from a jeweled casket or an envious witch in need of a spa vacation--did every game I purchased belch forth BS. I now have three or four otherwise promising games too flawed by over use of black smoke as a linking element to be playable. Oh, fie upon black smoke. Let it be exorcised. A little BS goes a long way. BS will not create cohesion in an incoherent story line.
