Hello,

I am in Birdman's cell trying to open the window.

However, when I use the jack on the window Birdman says
that I need 32 feet of rope.

But in my inventory I have only 16 feet, although I am sure that I have until now combined 4 different 8-feet ropes.

Is this a glitch in the game and if not where can I find any missing ropes?

Have you checked the walkthrough here?

I notice that the walkthrough explains that before the 4 pieces of rope have all been connected appropriately that the measurement amount is not always correct, so I'm thinking that this is probably (hopefully) not a glitch.

Try checking the walkthrough for the 4 pieces of rope, and let us know.

I remember that part... I had trouble too... but I do not think it is a glitch... I finally had all the lengths I needed... but I remember I thought I had what I needed,,, but didn't. This is not much help but at least you know it is not a glitch... keep looking and trying

1. Check twice the laundry box at center close to the kidnaper from KC to get another hanger and 8 ft of rope (2 sheets).
2. Rope: Give the comics to Hank. Hank gives 8 ft of rope.

3.
Towels: Take the towels on the middle shelf of the broken table under the window. Joe makes 8 feet of rope.

4.

Rope: Combine the 3 ropes to get one rope (?16 feet of rope? - ignore the number, it will correct itself later in the game when all 4 8 feet of ropes are collected and connected).

5. Talk to Hank. If you haven't yet - take the rope from Hank.

6. Rope: Go to birdman's wardroom across the hallway. Click on bed to take bed sheets-rope.
In inventory combine all 4 ropes (if you haven't already) to make 32 feet of rope.

I do appreciate your help, but the problem is that I can only visit the
chaplain where I can find no ropes and not access the other parts of Alcatraz.

I finally managed to get 32 feet of rope - I had forgotten to give
the Tijuana Bible to Hank who gave me the missing rope.
