Hi all...
Happy Labor Day !

I went to download windows 10 to my Alien ware X51_R2 desktop and everything went through the process till the end....Then all of a sudden a message came up reverting back to windows 7..
Then I went to download again and after the download I got the black screen of death with just a mouse and nothing else... Also I tried to recover from backup DVD'S would not work I could not get the computer to recognize the DVD ..SO I had to go into the bios and change everything to boot from DVD to get the system restore DVD to work....
What is the problem here?
Thanks think

Oh Oh. This may be a question only Microsoft can answer. I say that because they may know the answer from working with someone else who had the same problem and worked out the solution with them.

I had an issue where Win10 would revert every time. I solved it by updating my bios and motherboard drivers (the error code the USB version gave out lead to the correct answer. The error given by Windows Update didn't). I also used an USB stick to install it. Worked like a charm after that.

Thanks Guys

But I don't feel I should have to play around with the Bios of my Windows 7 Desktop to get this Windows 10 installed.... It really has to be addressed and fixed for all computers to install it properly...
These problems should be addressed where a person can install the upgrade without having to worry about the Black Screen of Death....I just wish Microsoft would leave well enough alone and stop with these new window versions... woozy

Now, THAT wouldn't be too smart of them... stay stuck back in 2000, or 2004 or even 2009 while the rest of the technology world passes them by!

I have installed Windows 10 on 5 different computers now including my own Windows 8.1 with no problems at all. There is obviously some conflict on your particular system. Geo's initial suggestion that you post your issue on a Microsoft forum is the way to go.

Have you run the compatibility check on your computer for Windows 10? That might be a good place to start to see if it comes up with anything.

Other people have had issues installing Windows 10 on an Alienware X51 R2.

Below are a couple of suggestions from

Patronize? I think not. I'm sorry that your REAL meaning didn't come through the typed words. I guess I've heard you express similar sentiments before and assumed you continued to mean it. Thanks.

I sure hope you can get this figured out to work for you as I think you will like Windows 10. However, there are some caveats for those of us who play games in the Windows 10 and Games thread stickied at the top of the Glitches forum. I'd suggest you read the comments following the main post.

Ok FYI....

Alien ware computers are having a issue with the video cards and the install with windows 10...

Now I installed windows 10 on my laptop dell inspiron 15 no problem... I think I will wait until they can straighten the video card problem out.... I am also looking into getting the HDMI and switching it from the DVI hookup.... My problem is I am scared to do anything right now on my desktop... smirk

I agree with Winfrey. Let Microsoft and Alienware/Dell figure this out. However, do watch your updates carefully - some people are reporting that the Windows 10 upgrade is being forced during normal security updates.
