Hi, fellow boomers,
I'm currently playing the new, free,Zak 2 game. After getting the wig and watching the TV interview, Zak automatically goes to the airport and hides out in the Cargo Hold, and has to escape. The walkthrough states: "USE COFFEE WITH SCANNER". There is an empty coffee cup in Zak's inventory which does not interact with "the scanning device", so I'm stuck here. Strangely enough, in the previous scene in the "barber shop" after getting the wig from the shop owner, the coffee cup in the inventory shows that it is "FULL OF COFFEE", but in the cargo hold scene after that, the coffee cup is empty. Am I missing something here or is this a possible "glitch" in the game. If any of you have played this game and has had this same "problem", I would appreciate some input on this matter. Thanks.
Sandy

Did you right click on your inventory items. You may be able to interact with them this way.Which way are you playing (easy or hard) ? Some things you have to eat or try with your mouse icon. You may have to start from a previously save game. I believe the coffee maker is on the left. Did you use your spacebar to make sure you looked at everthing ?
It's been a while since I played this game.

Hi Cathy.
Thanks for your quick reply. I'm playing the "hard" version. You mentioned a "coffee maker on the left". Do you mean in Zak's apartment? I have gone back to earlier save games, and played from there, but the result is always the same. I AM going to look for that other coffee maker you mentioned, though.
Sandy

i'm still stuck, Cathy and Mag, I didn't find a coffee maker, either (using spacebar) I even saved just before using the wig with the skull in zak's kitchen. Even at THAT point there was a FULL CUP OF COFFEE in inventory. after the cutscene, and then being in the cargo hold, there was an EMPTY COFFEE CUP in inventory. Without being able to "use coffee on scanner", I can't progress. Very frustrating. Maybe I will start the game over in EASY MODE this time and try it again. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

OH MY! It seems that after replaying in EASY mode till I was in the Cargo Hold, I was able to "USE THE COFFEE CUP ON THE SCANNER" and this time that "empty" coffee cup on the scanner, BUT I had to use that coffee cup on the "VENT" just above "the scanning device" and it WORKED (finally). SO, I went back to the savegame in the cargo hold (in the HARD version), Used the coffee cup on the VENT instead of on the SCANNER and VOILA, it worked. now I'm finally moving along. In hindsight the author of the walkthrough should have said "use the coffee on the vent". BTW, the coffee cup did NOT have to be full in order to use it on the VENT.
If any other of our Gameboomers is playing this game or WILL be playing it, I hope I will have helped them to solve the problem as I finally was able to do.

BTW, the walkthrough, aside from that "mistake" is perfect, so I have nothing to complain about. My Thanks to the author of this WT for making my life easier. At 84 years old I "ain't" as sharp as I used to be. LOL

Hi Sanford
I only played the easy mode. I'm glad you got through it. The game maker said there were things you had to do differently in the two modes. I'm impressed that an 84 year old is playing games. puppy

Thanks Cathy,
I played the game once as "HARD", and then again as "EASY". I finished both and now I'm moving on to my next game. As far as my "84 year old mind", I'm able to play these games using a walkthrough, without too many "pitfalls", but I can't remember what I had for breakfast. So much for my "84 year old mind". LOL

I think I'm losing it, Cathy. I've been playing the OLD version all along by mistake. I downloaded the "talkie" version and now all is well, including the VOICES. Sorry for bothering you in the first place. This old brain just "ain't" what it used to be. LOL

Sandy,

Be careful - you know what they say about "hearing voices".
