Hi, Marian!

I've played a few minutes of the demo and it's a definite buy for me. I have 2 Game Club credits burning a hole in my account, but I'm gonna wait to see what kind of sale BF has this weekend before using them!

I bought Midnight Calling Anabel after buying a different, somewhat older game on the basis of skimming a review that promised an invincible evil frog. "Frog" turned out to be a typo. The reviewer meant fog.

Cue flourish of strumpets.

After that, Midnight Calling Anabel was a pleasant surprise although have not finished it yet. Some of the puzzles are difficult enough to be absorbing. I messed around for a longish time on a 4 double-chain slider before coming back to it in the morning and solving (not the first time I have had to refigure a particular puzzle type's methodology), and the last round of chess (a game I have never played) was over my head. In addition, there are several Rube Goldberg puzzles. While not as complex as Elephant's best work, these commanded my smiling attention. Another big plus for me is that Midnight Calling Anabel is not over burdened with HOS. On the downside, narrative logic and object hiding logic are in slim supply. However, considering how few casuals seem to pay any attention to either, Midnight Calling Anabel is a cut above typical fare based on the quality of some of the puzzles.

I'm glad you are liking the game. Elephant has been putting in more Rube Goldberg-type puzzles into their games lately. They are a nice addition to those looking for more challenge. smile

Hi, Marian!

Pardon my ignorance, but are Rube Goldberg-type puzzles the "super puzzles" that have several sections to them, and you have to complete one before you have access to the others? If so, those are the ones I love and will never skip because, if I get stuck in one area, I don't want to miss out on the others. I think the first time I ever encountered one of those puzzles was in one of the "Mystery Case Files" games.

The puzzles that really get on my nerves are the ones that repeat themselves 2, 3 and sometimes 4 times to the point where I'm yelling "okay, enough is enough already" lol! They are particularly annoying if I've spent a long time solving the first one, and then another one exactly the same pops up, only harder.

Yes, those are the puzzles. yes

That's where I remember seeing the first one of that type - in a Mystery Case Files game. It's nice to see them being added to other games as well. wave
