Hi. Wanted to mention that Steam has unbelivable prices on the Tomb Raider games. Looked at some of them and the graphics are fabulous, so asking how much action is there? Is there a lot of fighting and shooting, how stealthy would I have to be?
(the one released Mar.4, 2013 has rave reviews, looks good)

When you live in the past, it costs you the present.

Hi Terri,

Tomb Raider (2013) is the only game in the series I have played.

The game has lots of action elements, climbing using a pick axe and shooting with variously upgraded bows against enemies or to use them to get something or somehere. Plus stealth and hiding. Up to certain point you can avoid contact with your enemies but very often it is inevitable.

Then there are also sequences, especially in caves, where you must your imagination and tools available to get through or reach something.

If I remember right there were three difficulty levels to choose from and I played it on "Normal" level as I usually do. I guess it only controls the amount of enemies. You can't skip anything even if wanted to do so.

Normal fights in the game are not so bad but several boss fights are very hard for an amateur to survive.

The story is good but I don't recommend this for anyone who has not played much or any shooter type games before. I would save my money for the upcoming Tomb Raider (November 2015?) that is told to better support stealth method over simple shooting.

Timo

I can't recommend the Tomb Raider games strongly enough. They're almost all great games (with the exception of Angel of Darkness, which is just a chore frown ), Tomb Raider 2013 is a great example of the franchise with a strong story for Lara Croft, a good range of stealthy and non-stealthy combat, challenging puzzles, and amazing environments.

The only thing I don't like about the upcoming TR game is the ridiculous Xbox One platform exclusivity. Stupid move on the publisher's behalf. I haven't and won't be buying an xbone, so I'll just wait for the PC port.

Hey gremlin, I feel your pain. There were a number of xbox exclusive JRPG games back in the early 360 days for which I was chomping at the bit. I gave into the evil empire though and ended up getting hooked on Halo as well, which was really bad, because they released that remastered Halo xbox-one package and yea, I upgraded. I know, I'm hopeless. lol

Good news for you though is that Rise of the Tomb raider was a "timed" exclusive release. So the PC versions should be coming out in early 2016. Since they had it planned, it may be a full release rather than a port, which is usually better for the PC game play mechanics.

Terri, I've only played a couple of the earlier Tomb Raiders. Honestly, it did take me some time to get used to it, but I had fun in the process.

I feel a lot more like I do now, then when I first got here
