Steven Moffet thinks the Doctor and the Master were friends, because the original Master (Roger Delgado) and the third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) will real life friends and it effected how their characters behaved. Jon Pertwee was devastated by Roger Delgado's death and it influenced his decisions to quit Doctor Who.

That was a shocking start for the season. Wonder how part 2 is going to fix it. I can' imagined the Doctor actually doing what it looks like in the trailer.

All I know is that it is going to break my heart when Clara leaves. Jenna Coleman is the best part of the show for me.

PS And I still miss Matt Smith. cry

Little Doctor Who "history":

The war between the Time Lords and the Daleks was not the first Time War. Long before the Daleks even existed a Time Lord called Morbius, a member of the High Council, believed the Time Lords should use their Time Travel technology not to just observe the universe but to conquer it. Eventually cast out from Gallifrey, he formed a mercenary army and did conquer worlds. The High Council couldn't let this stand.

Morbious was eventually traced to the planet Karn and with the help of the Sisterhood of Karn (who originally came from Gallifrey) the Time Lord were able to capture and execute Morbius, by vaporization (the only sure way to keep a Time Lord dead). What neither the Time Lords nor the Sisterhood knew is that one of Morbius' followers was able to remove the evil Time Lord's brain from his body before the body was destroyed.

Most of this happens in books so is not stickly canon. What happens next is from the TV series story "The Brain of Morbius". When the Time Lords eventually learn that Morbius' brain has survived and a mad scientist is trying to create a new body for Morbius they decide that the best way to handle the situation is to take control of the 4th Doctor's TARDIS forcing it to materialize on Karn. They don't actually tell the Doctor he's on a mission for them. They just force him to land on Karn and wait for him to get involved as he always does. This almost proved disastrous as the scientist realized the Doctor was a Time Lord and therefore the perfect host for Morbius' brain. Ulitmatly though the scientist was forced to put Morbius brain in a different body. Eventually of course, the Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith and the Sisterhood of Karn were able to defeat Morbius, for good. At least as far as the TV series is concerned. Another book had Morbius revived again only to be defeated by the 8th Doctor.

From "The Brain of Morbius" we learn that the Sisterhood of Karn are immortal as the planet produces the Elixir of Life, which they drink to stay young. They've also been known to share it with Time Lords who's regeneration has for one reason or another gone wrong. The Sisterhood members are also powerful telepaths and they don't like uninvited visitors to Karn and are quite capable of forcing other intelligent life forms to crash their space ships. There abilities can be resisted by Time Lords who are also telepathic.

It seems that over the centuries between "The Brain of Morbous" and "The Night of the Doctor" the Sisterhood has been experimenting with their Elixir to the point that they can help Time Lords control the results of regeneration.

So that assassin looking for the Doctor was only able to land on Karn because the Doctor wanted to hear what "he" would say. The Sisterhood could have made the spaceship crash instead of letting it land.

The viewing figures of the new season of Dr Who have fallen dramatically in the UK. Whether that’s because one of the actors is leaving or some other reason is anyone’s guess. The good news is the trailers’ of the new autumn drama programs are beginning to been shown.
This clip maybe of interest to Dr Who fans.

This season is going to be strange. According to wikipedia episodes 3 and 4 will be parts 2 and 1 of a single story, that's right they're going to be shown in reverse order. Episode 3 takes place a few centuries after episode 4. Despite episodes 5 and 6 having names that sound like they're part 1 and 2 they're not listed as such. Apparently both have Maisie Williams in them so they are linked in some way. Episode 9 will feature video found in a crashed space ship. It will look like it was filmed with camcorders and phones. Episode 11 will feature just the Doctor.

Season 9 episode titles:
--- "Last Christmas"
01. "The Magician's Apprentice" (part 1)
02. "The Witch's Familiar" (part 2)
03. "Under the Lake" (part 2)
04. "Before the Flood" (part 1)
05. "The Girl Who Died"
06. "The Woman Who Lived"
07. "The Zygon Invasion" (part 1)
08. "The Zygon Inversion" (part 2)
09. "Sleep No More"
10. "Face the Raven"
11. "Heaven Sent" (part 1)
12. "Hell Bent" (part 2)

Seems to me "Last Christmas" should be counted as part of season 8 not 9. The next Christmas special will see the return of River Song.

Steven Moffat hints there could be more than one companion in the future but claims not to know who. Keep in mind he lies to try to keep things secret.

I sense a pattern. Since in episode 1
Click to reveal..
Clara appears to be killed but she's alive in episode 2.
And in episode 3
Click to reveal..
the Doctor appears to have died but we know he'll be alive again by the end of episode four.
I predict that in the next two parter,
Click to reveal..
both the Doctor and Clara will appears to be killed in the first episode.

The actress who plays the deaf woman Cass in Under the Lake and Before the Flood is actually deaf. And the actor who plays Lunn actually knows sign language, because he has a deaf sister.

Finally a new series Doctor reversed the polarity of the neutron flow! (course he gave away the secret that it doesn't mean anything, just sounds cool). It actually came about because Jon Pertwee (Doctor #3) could not remember all the techonabble in the script and would adlib "I'm reversing the polarity of the neutron flow" which is total nonsense, neutrons are neutral.

Oh and Peter Capalid's pants look like ones Patrick Troughton (Doctor #2) wore.

Oh and he finally figured out why he chose the face of the man David Tennnent's Doctor rescued from Pompeii.

The Woman Who Lived teaser - what the Doctor did in The Girl Who Died has consequences.

Already rumors that Ashildr will be back in episode 10, which may be Clara's last episode as well.

This getting worrisome:

“Clara is gone and will never return. I can only say that what will happen will shock, surprise and terrify. Strictly in that order.”
-- Steven Moffat

"I found it really sad to say goodbye to her ... I don't want to go into what happens, because it's very clever what happens in it, but it's very sad. It's really sad"
-- Peter Capaldi

The good news is Peter Capaldi will be back next season.

Little teaser from episode 8, Real Clara vs Zygon Clara

Well if you have to go out go out big like Amy Pond did. The show will not be the same for me without Clara and the never to return quote is very bad news for me. cry She was the only thing keeping me watching the show. I think Calpadi is a good actor but he doesn't sell me as the Doctor.
