Len-Since you have completed Prime, you should have everything you need to go to the office (whether you call it "Sharpers" or the "Barons"). I am not sure why you dont have all the pages in your Brown book but at the moment we will just go to Teledahn. I assume the power is still running so you just exit the hut and ride up the elevator to the bedroom, and look at the fishtank. You should see the linking book to the office there, since you already opened this in Prime. You may recall there are two rooms inthe office-one has three large paintings and the second room a large desk and a window with a view of the city.

The more help I get, the more confused I become ! I must be particularly dumb ! I assume the power is still running so you just exit the hut and ride up the elevator to the bedroom. Yes the power is running .... no problem. BUT WHAT ELEVATOR ???Do you mean the bucket ? If so, that's exactly what I just posted that I CANNOT succeed in doing !

Len, my memory is a little fuzzy on this, but if the power is running, when you come out of the door to the hut and go down the short walkway to the main path (the one that runs in a circle around the hut), isn't there a button to call the elevator...

Hi Len, I looked at the WT and no it doesnt' really give specific pages in your books of links to use. You say you are using your save from Uru Prime, so I am assuming that most of the links should be in your books and all the things turned on or completed as you left them. For me the link to the Baron's Office is in the fat Brown book(7th from the left). It is the FIRST link in the book. The linking picture: has a linking book on a pedestal to the left in a round foyer with mosaic floor of greenish and brown. Towards the upper right is a round door opening, and further in the background you can see a desk with a candle to the left of it. Or, if the machinery is running in Teledahn and you already did the buckets in Prime then you should be able to simply link to the hut from the orange book, go to the elevator straight out of the hut, and push the blue button in the elevator TWICE to get to the top floor with the aquarium in it. Then link from the book in the aquarium to the Baron's Office. I went and linked to Teledahn to see what the buckets were doing for me, and they won't even come down pulling the lever where you originally jump into them. I guess I left something in the control room closed or locked so they won't come down anymore, but no problem, just use the elevator to get up to the control room or the aquarium room. PS: actually the link to the Baron's office is the second link for me in the brown book, but that is only cuz I added a link before it further on in Uru to D'ni. I'm almost finished with Uru to D'ni now. But if I was at the stage you are at it would be on the first page. Hope this helps. EDIT: Oops, after I posted this it took me to the second page of this thread. hehe, I didn't notice before when I was replying there WAS a second page. You should be well on your way now Len. Sassy

LenG, Getting the city opened up is a puzzle in itself. This does not sound like you have a bug. You need to find the spyroom through Teledahn (Mushroom Age) AFTER finishing Teledahn the first time. I don't know which office was "barron's office." Sharper's journal mentions a book he had hidden in the additional pages. It leads to his "spyroom." AFTER finishing Teledahn, link back to the last journey cloth (touch one near the end door if you have touched another since then) and walk back to the prison area. Flip one lever and the gates near the levers will close. You will see the hidden book. Link to your Relto. Link back to the last Journey cloth again. Walk back to the book. This is the link to the spyroom that starts "to D'ni" in earnest. There's a link in the spyroom to Phil's personal Relto and a code you should note through a the telescope. Go to Phil's Relto. Make sure you link into the cavern city using Phil's book to the cavern and touch a KI thing when there so you can get back anytime. Use the code you saw on the lights in Phil's neighborhood and find the room this unlocks. (It will be straight ahead) THEN you can get all around the city using the stones inside. Best Wishes on your quest! Susan

AFAIK, the elevator works after you disengage the locks on the level where the bucket comes in. (Its a foot pedal near the elevator) After that you dont need to use the buckets anymore. Those levers control the buckets, the mahole lock, and the water level below the hut where you first link in to the Age. Once you have turned the Mushroom Age on (Teledahn) you dont need to go back and use the other equipment again. Getting to the spyroom involves getting through the prisons once, knocking that one walkway flat (use lever, jump at it, use lever again) getting a linking cloth near the end. (the rest of the movements are listed above) Susan

Those levers control the buckets, the mahole lock, and the water level below the hut where you first link in to the Age. Are you sure the above is correct … I seem to have come across very different observations. (1) In Uru/Dni (or at least the early part which is all I have done so far) the buckets are useless. They are either permanently stationary; or permanently looping with no method of stopping them & jumping in. (2) I looked for quite a long time all around & near to the elevator and could not find any controlling foot pedal ... maybe I missed it ?! (3) Quite a way away from the elevator, on the platform where the antenna etc. resides, are 3 large levers which control 3 huge shafts … one is broken so you can only operate 2. One of these shafts goes into the far wall in the direction of the elevator (you can’t see it). If the shaft is rotating, the yellow (down) & blue (up) buttons are lit and when clicked operate the elevator. If however the relevant lever has been activated and the shaft stops rotating, the yellow & blue buttons are not lit and the elevator cannot work.

Len, you are right that those two levers have to be thrown for the elevator and buckets to work. I don't know what the third one, the broken one, was supposed to control, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
The foot pedal lock that Susan was talking about is in the room where the buckets dump you out. When you first go over to the elevator it won't work--down on the floor on the right hand side is a place where you get a "use" icon--that's the lock, and all you have to do it click on it to release it. After that the elevator will work as long as the power is on.
I'm really confused about your problem with the buckets, Len--I have ridden them several times in To D'ni. Took me a couple of tries to get the bucket to stop in the right place, but after a few miscues I didn't have any problem at all. Unfortunately, the way the saves work in URU, there isn't any way that I can look at your game and see what the trouble is. Oh well, I'm just glad it's something that you don't absolutely have to do!!!
Just as a hint, any time you go into an area, be sure to insert your KI into any Nexus books that you find--that way you will have all of the linking pages you need. I believe the one to Baron's office is the second one in one of those two books you mentioned--right after the picture of the beginning of the Age...

~~ Jenny ~~ I think these are fairly good examples of what I meant in my post on the GB Main Discussion Board URU(Dni) ~ A Brilliant Failure The complexity and attention to detail is magnificent & absolutely staggering. However, I think it is so intricate that it tends to lead to anomalies ... I wouldn't call them BUGS !! I think the broken shaft is only there as a sort of deliberate red herring. I think I DID see that foot pedal during the short time I glanced around 'upstairs' ... but my original problem was operating the TWO ways to GET up there ... not what to do *AFTERWARDS*. Yes ... why/how you could operate the buckets for a 2nd time (i.e. after having used them in URU-Prime) whereas both Sassy & myself can't, is indeed one of the quirks I've been referring to ! BTW ... I've come across quite a number of games with only ONE Save slot which I HATE !! ........ but URU is about the worst ... what a pity ....... maybe they've improved it in their new version --- VERY doubtful ??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />

When I get a few minutes, Len, (I'm buried right now) I'll pop in my game and see if I can make those buckets work for me again...

Since the only reason you rode the buckets up in Prime was because the brake was on for the elevator, can't see any reason you would want to ride them again  You got the elevator working in Prime, so just keep riding that! Better yet, now that you have the correct page in the Brown Book, you can come and go to that office anytime you feel like it. There is one little trick in Teledahn that is worth doing though, Len. Go to the Teledahn book and use the page with the journey cloth. This should bring you into the cave opposite the door to the Bahro pole cave. There are three other exits from this cave: the opening to the place where you shot rocks from the dock in Prime; the entrance to the area of boxes, and an exit back out toward a sea wall and the machinery you used to "catch the sun" for power. Go to that last exit from the cave and walk back on the ramp that leads to the sun catcher. Toward the end of the ramp, jump on it, and it will lower and lock into that position. This gives you the option of returning to the cave area from the hut via the sun catcher if you ever need it. And if I have just confused you, disregard it all! Enjoy-and good luck! Kate

Better yet, now that you have the correct page in the Brown Book, you can come and go to that office anytime you feel like it. Very much figures ... and fills in a "logic gap". I'd totally forgotten about the elevator brake (which had already been 'fixed') thus as you say rendering the buckets superfluous in URU/Dni. Also when I started, my "elevator-shaft" was inoperative and hence I assumed (incorrectly) that you couldn't use the elevator [[ not that I even remembered using it (without Hints above) in Uru-Prime anyway ... heehee ! ]]. I don't like criticizing ANY walkthru since I've written a lot myself and am doubtless 'wanting' in many respects. However, all this preliminary section of URU/Dni is pretty complex and IMHO warrants a good clear full mini-walkthru written by one of you folk who knows the game inside out by now (certainly not me !)

Lost again --- unsurprisingly. I would never have made an intrepid (or any other) explorer. I seem to be moving round & round Teledahn with considerable ease now ... but what next ??? BTW ... when the GB URU/Dni walkthru & other folk talk about the "OUTER prison", do they mean the area where you have to depress 4 pressure plates simultaneously in order to open TWO doors ? And the "INNER prison", the area where you have to flip 4 signs from gold color to grey in order to open ONE door (and simultaneously close the previous two) OR IS IT THE OTHER WAY ROUND --- or something else entirely ?? I'm stumped with the following (end of the walkthruu's section "5. Teledahn Age") ....... Any explanation &/or hints/help would be very welcome ! Exit the Prison and go down the stone steps to the cistern pipe. Enter the hole and climb down the pipe to the metal ladder. Climb up the ladder to the cistern. Climb up the other ladder to the cistern hut. Exit the hut to the metal walkway outside and keep going forward. Turn left at the fork and climb up to the solar generator. Continue forward and to the right, down a broken metal walkway to a fallen mushroom. Climb up the other metal walkway to get to the metal dam area. Enter the corridor that leads past the Journey Door and continue to the Dock room. Exit the room to the Dock area. Climb down the stairs to the left to a wooden walkway. Cross the wooden drawbridge and go up the wooden steps. Enter the corridor that leads to the outer Prison cell door. To your right should be the open niche. Approach it and click on the link book.
You are now in Sharper's spy room. There is a linking book to the bedroom above the control room in Teledahn, another linking book (belonging to Phil Henderson) that links to a night time Relto, a telescope and Sharper's Hat that you can collect to add to your wardrobe. Look through the telescope to gain an important clue that you should write down.
