A new video highlighting the Fallout 4 Character System has been released at Bethesda's Fallout Shelter website
Bethesda: Fallout 4 Website The character development tree has been somewhat modified from the previous release. Consistent with Fallout 3 are the S.P.E.C.I.A.L.'s (known as Attributes in D&D* jargon) of Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck. Associated with those is the Fallout Perk tree, which is a carry over from the original series. In this iteration of Fallout, the Character System has 70 base Perks which can lead into a number of "Sub-Perks" bringing the total to 275 available development Perks.
Perk selection has been graphically enhanced. While the usual "Green Screen" text is still prevalent on your character's Pip-Boy, the Perk selection is now represented by dynamic animations in a multi-level, fallout shelter, stylized screen.
It appears that further enhancements to the graphic/game engine that's been utilized by Bethesda for some time now is allowing them to increase character interaction with objects and make character interfaces more attractive and dynamic. The one aspect I noticed in the videos released to date is color. It appears the prevalent green/brown tint that saturated everything in Fallout 3 has been removed. Items thankfully appear to show a truer color than in the previous release.
[*while the character development tree is not associated with D&D, I use the term "attribute" for comparison because it is more common in RPG's than Fallout's term of S.P.E.C.I.A.L.]
