I have been stuck at trying to get to the tower.
Cant get close enough without passing right on by. Many tries at jumping out as far as possible from the rock. Any little hints to help please. Thanks <img border="0" alt="" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

Whistler, i made it first try. I jumped straight out from the rock (i.e., not towards the tower), then swam with a full speed while gradually turning toward the tower so I could see it on the right of my field of view.

If you are overshooting, try angling more towards the tower in your swim.

Whistler, are you searching for the crabs out there? The reason I asked is that I've been through this sequence four different times ( ) and have never found a crab on the tower. Get rid of all the ones you can see and then check the radar in the middle of the lake--there is one blue dot at about the seven o'clock position which is the linking book; if you don't see any others, then you don't need to worry about swimming to the tower...

I, for one, did have one crab on the tower that I needed to chase off....

Whistler, make sure that you have your Caps Lock on when swimming so you're not just doing the dog paddle.

Jenny, I've replayed Ahnonay and this time there wasn't a quab at the tower so I didn't have to swim out there.

But you did have to swim out there once, Arwen? The reason I ask is that it seems to me the crabs are in basically the same places every time--but I've reached the point where the whole Age is just one big blur!!!

I finally got past this part and on to the next section, when I suddenly had a screen blip and it threw me back to Relto! I'm afraid to log back in for fear I'll be back to the beginning again... <img border="0" alt="" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

Jenny, because I already knew what was out there the first time I played through Ahnonay it wasn't necessary for me to swim out there fighting the current when a quab wasn't registering on the scanner. Missing a clue will not stop your progress. I did have to go back later on but I didn't have to swim there.

I'm sorry you're having problems with the game. I wonder what the problem could be. For me, it's played flawlessly except for a few minor bugs that didn't affect progressing in the game. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I did find a crab out on the tower. Maybe it's different for each of us?

Arwen, I just went back and got past the place where I crashed before with no problem, so I don't know what happened...

Thanks all. If it isnt necessary to go to the tower, then I will just follow the wt from that point on. Maybe come back later and it will work.

I'm thinking that it is different at times just like seeing Shroomie in Teledahn. You never know when or if she'll appear.

whistler, if the scanner shows two lit up blue indicators on the main island after you got rid of all the "quabs", you will have to swim out to the tower to get rid of the one there before you can continue on.

I had one crab on the tower island and couldn't make the swim to get him. Got all the others and gave up for awhile. When I went back to try again, that crab had moved to the 'mainland' and I never did have to do the swim through the currents.

Don't you need to get to the tower to see the number reference?

I'm still so early in the game that I don't know if the number references are key to progress or just "nice".

If anyone really wants to get to the tower, I found that keeping your body parallel to the bubbles makes you swim out farthest. Or maybe I should say keeping your body so that the bubbles are the most parallel to themselves makes you swim out farthest. If the bubbles are slipping past your body in a stream, you're going with the current rather than striking out against it.

I think I'm just confusing matters more here.

Anybody else walked across the top of the waterfall?

My crab, it has three corners. Three corners has my crab. And had it not three corners. It would not be my crab.

Jenny -- I think the Ki face radar thing only registers living creatures on the land. If you see a blue dot by the linking book station, it's because YOU are standing by the linking book station. If you throw yourself in the water, the Ki face radar thing registers no blue dots.

Don't know what it registers when you're on the tower. Don't think you can see the Ki face radar thing when you're on the tower. Though if a crab registers on it when it's on the tower, I suppose YOU must register on it when you're on the tower.

Hmmm. If I somehow managed to get a crab to land on one of those rocks -- would it register?

Not seeing all the reference numbers won't stop your progress. I'm sure that I missed a couple along the way.

Yep, I've walked across the waterfall. It's fun to explore as many places as you can.

Been trying to get UNDER the waterfall. Haven't succeeded. Tried to strike out toward those formations in the distance. Didn't succeed at that either.

Exploration has been great, though I now appear to have fried everything accidentally. Is this what it's like to write linking books -- one little careless change and you lose the nice friendly place where you used to enjoy practicing your backstroke?

Becky, I don't think you can see the radar from the tower, but I know it registers things out there because later in this Age I had something show up out there. (Don't want to say too much because you obviously haven't gotten to this part yet.)

As for swimming out to those things in the distance, I couldn't do it until much later in the Age and I never did manage to get under the waterfall. Because of URU I kept thinking there must be a way to get there, but if there is, I never found it...

On the second attempt to get out to the tower(missed the tower the first time), I inadvertantly knocked the little Quab off in the water.

When I went back to the Island to check the radar, the guy from the tower was now on the island.

You ask me how I know this because I had already scooted all, but the tower Quab off the Island and went to the book to see if I was the only one left and there were 3 blips. Had to really hunt around for the little bu**er.

Scooting them is fun, isn't it? If YOUR little guy made it from the tower to the island, then they obviously can swim, so I can stop feeling guilty about the scooting business. Well, I'll feel a little less guilty, though given the result when they all take the panic dive, it's just a little less (guilt).

Why is scooting them so much more fun than kicking the baskets in Eder Gira?

Has anyone encountered a Quab swimming in the water next to them?

Jenny -- thanks for the info. Glad to know there's mmore to the age. The blue crystals must be alive because they register. I've already shattered a few of them. The mark they leave reminds me of the mark left after Atrus destroys the blue and red linking books to his sons.

I think the whole Age/sequence is majorly cool! I am toward the end now playing D'ni alka seltzer with little success. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" /> Lots of things remind me of Myst & Riven in this set. I think this is the best Uru Age I've seen yet

I linked out to Relto and then back to Ahnonay and there was only one blue dot. So I linked to the cathedral and then to Ahnonay with the crystals. Got all the crystals I think, but I can't find the hidden path to the tower. I have fallen into the mist so often and still am not finding the path to the tower. Can someone steer me to it?

Go through the opening that's to the right of the shell cloth. Continue down to your right towards the tower. Walk, don't run, and you should be able to see the edges of the path to the tower through the mist. Take your time and you should be OK.

Got it, but now I have gone to outer space and back and am inside the tower in Water Ahnonay. But I can't turn the current off. I suppose I have done something wrong or not done something but I can't seem to stop the currents. Help, please.

If you are inside the tower in Water Ahnonay, Charward, there is a wheel to the right of where you were first standing. Turning that counterclockwise turns the current off...

I have turned the wheel, but the currents appear to still be there. Water looks and sounds the same as before.

It may look the same, but if you've turned the wheel counterclockwise the currents are off and the swimming is easy.

There is one backdrop on the horizon you can swim to before you turn off the current. I was mad when I discovered it was a fake!

As for the baskets in Eder Gira, I started kicking them in the water, and having lots of fun doing it, before I knew I was going to need them. The pain was trying to get them positioned without hands.

BTW, I love all the new clothes, but I wish they had given us swim suits.

I tried to rationalize my guit over kicking the crabs in the water by telling myself they'd be much happier in the water. They're crabs, aren't they?
