I'm just starting the game, I've got everything I need to get from the first floor. I went into the well and came out. I want to start going through the sewers to get my back pack. I can't go forward, the arrow comes up but I can't go forward. I can turn and can go back into the well. Has anyone else had this problem? What do I need to do? Any sugestions, I'm stumped.

Urabeth, If want a hint, I don't know about you but I wouldn't go exploring the creepy dark sewers without seeing what's in front of me.

Bring the yellow lamp to the middle of the screen so you can see where you're going.

Yes that helped. Now I went as far as a locked gate, can't go through it, there's not a green box above it. (Must have gone the wrong way)Someone please tell me, reading the walkthrough F means Forward, right? (L) means ? Do I turn to my left or to the left looking out of the screen.

I don't know which walkthrough you're following but typically F means forward and L means turn to the left and so forth.
