Many words have more than one meaning. For instance, 'set' can mean to lay the table, a division of play in tennis or the solidification of jelly. In this quiz, the answer is one word that can substitute for three or four phrases in each question.

-1.Oh Judy, you have a column of stitches unravelling in your tights. You won't be able to propel yourself forward quickly to the small stream with that ladder in your tights. 3 letters

-2.Let's watch Francis in his monk's sleeping chamber investigate the smallest unit of an organism with a microscope. He is a member of a special interest group which studies biology. 4

-3.I will be frank with you. If you want to enter the tournament which welcomes all comers, you can enter through the gate over there which isn't locked. 4

-4.On the 9th level of the cruise ship, Penelope shuffled the pack of cards before going to decorate her cabin with souvenirs. 4

-5.I require some assistance to hold this collection of cards I am playing. If I play the right card, I will receive a round of applause. 4

6.Meryl couldn't reach the uppermost section of her normal singing register. She knew she had to see the most highly ranked throat specialist as soon as possible. She was performing that night and the box office takings wouldn't exceed her record if her voice wasn't just right. 3

-7.Jason, please make this twig adhere to the side of the boat. I wouldn't want it to protrude out of the boat as we travel along the river. 5

-8.No Dorien, I will not have a fight with you about this. I've written the phone number of the man who hasn't a trace of aggression in him on a small piece of paper. When you call him, you'll see that he will buy your car to break it up. 5

-9.Selma shall depart shortly for her official absence from her job in order to make her will. She plans to bequeath her photos of Richard Dean Anderson to her sister, Patty. 5

-10.There's no need to be so impudent, Morgan. The bread is not stale and the weather is a little chilly, so eat up! 5

Sometimes lost is where you need to be. Just because you don't know your direction doesn't mean you don't have one.

The moon is actually more useful than the sun since the moon gives us light at night when it's dark. The sun only gives us light during the day when it's already bright out.
