What the heck am I supposed to be doing with the microwave?

At some point, you buy a meal to cook in the microwave. You also need to get power to the microwave before cooking the meal.

Trying to be a bit vague...

Oh, Marian. Sorry, I didn't mean for my question to come out like that. Last night I got the meal and went to put it in the microwave. I had already plugged it in. Doesn't work. I went to bed and was trying fresh today but still no luck.

I do thank you for being vague. I like to attempt to figure things out more or less on my own. I had thought I saw something that might be helpful at some point last night but cannot find it now. Not even sure if it pertained to this or not. Anyway, I'm going to take another look around but I'll probably be back. I just hope I don't have to talk too much to anybody. I did talk to Bill already about it. thanks

OK. So it only took about 1-1/2 hours to find the fuse box! zombie

Stay tuned!

Hi Marian,

So now I have wandered around trying things for about 3 hours on 3 different days getting nowhere. I am trying to get a VCR Machine. The antique shop is open but the door is locked. There is a sign on the floor that fell that I cannot get and a mail slot I cannot access. I am also holding an airport locker key but don't know which locker. I'm assuming I need to watch the video tape first.

I've got a wire with thread (fishing pole type),video tape, teddy bear, thread, knife, video cam, bag, tickets, mine and Rita's business cards, alien doll, photo of Mr Oswald, and my communication thingie (can't remember what it's called)and a lighter. I had some pictures from the observatory but they never went into my inventory.

Am I missing an item or not using something right or what? Any way to tell me without telling me?

Thanks.

I took a look at the walkthrough and it would appear that you are missing an inventory item that would come in handy at this point in the game. You can find this item back at the agency.

If you want me to get more specific, please let me know. luck

Thank you Marian. I will head back to the agency again.

Got it Marian. Had a long talk with the antique dealer and I'm tired now so tomorrow I'll search the store for the vcr.

Well, I'm stumped again and falling asleep wandering around. I need to get on a zeppelin. I have a pigeon and I spoke to the information lady about Cargo & Tech Services and the homeless people but I am at a loss here. Can you nudge me along again Marian?

Thanks.

What, besides the pigeon, do you have in your inventory? Anything?

Do you have a Cargo security ID? You say you have business cards, but I'm not sure if that includes the security ID.

No, I do not. I guess that is what I'm trying to get. Any vague ideas for me? Not sure if I'll make it to the game tonight or not though.
Thanks.

Getting the card involves talking to people. I *think* you are probably at a point in the game where this will work. If not, my apologies in advance - and we will try something else. luck

Did you talk to Gerald? Did you also read his diary?
After doing that - talk to Rita again.

Thanks Marian. Nobody in the Air Lounge will speak to me. I must be missing something.

Well, I did manage to start moving on again finally. I talked to Christine and a man came to my door with a Lunar 5 ticket. I'll see where this takes me.

Hi Marian and MaG.

I've been so tired after work but I managed to play a little on Monday and tonight and have finally made it to the Bermuda platform. Yay!

Just thought I'd update you. Not stuck at the moment.

Should have known I wouldn't get anywhere. Been on the platform for 1 hour 10 minutes and have nothing to show for it. Am I missing some clue about the elevator code? The only thing I can see is the W 46 on the towers. That doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. duh

Best to check everything on that platform.

As for Elevator Codes - Read the September 12, 2044 entry in Gerald's diary. luck

OK, I have not yet read what you wrote. I just want to say that after 3.5 hours of trial and error, I have got the elevators working. Now, I will take a look at what you wrote.

Well, ok. I had checked everything on the platform and had looked in Mr Oswald's diary. The code in the Sept 12 entry did not give me any help at all! I just went back right now and looked at it along with what I now know the code is and do not see any correlation with it. ??

Anyway, I've gone down in the elevator and found the dinghy and diving stuff but then went back up and then up in the elevator (thank goodness it is not a different code). This is where I am at now. I haven't looked around up there yet.

I'll probably be back again soon.

Thanks!!

Great that you got the code though.

Click to reveal..
Elevator Codes - Read the September 12, 2044 entry in Gerald's diary. At the bottom it says the code is TR, M, BR, B - BL, B, BR.

TR, M, BR, B = Top right, center, bottom right, bottom. BL, B, BR = Bottom left, bottom, bottom right.

Knowing those - you can deduce how to enter the code.

Good luck and enjoy the game.

Somebody was having a good laugh at me while I posted my previous post, knowing I had yet another code to figure out. haha

I am still working on it but needed a rest. I suppose looking at what you covered with the spoiler alert thingie would probably be the smarter way to do it but I'm a stubborn Taurus so...

Thanks MaG!

Well MaG, my stubbornness did not pay off. I went through every combination and didn't get the code. I must have missed it because I was nodding off several times. I know I repeated some things and I must have missed some things.

Next time I am able to play I will first look around again but then will probably have to look under the spoiler tag. Even if I end up figuring it out I will then look at your answer.

Thank you for sticking with me.

I looked under the spoiler tag and knowing now what the code in the diary stands for and already knowing the elevator code, I was able to figure it out. I don't think I would have gotten it on my own though.

However, this is just the elevator code. I cannot get in the door on the upper level. I don't know what to do other than try to go through all the combinations again.

What might I be missing or not understanding now?

Yes, 500 amperes of dangerous stuff that requires special clothing. I had tried my diving outfit the other day which did not work. I'll have to try it again I guess.

Thank you for giving me some direction to go in.

If only I could get out of jail.

I have in inventory: Mr. Longneck, thread (noose), ketchup, bread, and in the yard I can pick up the Magpie. I see walls that I shouldn't touch, a watchtower, and a really bendy tree but I cannot seem to do anything. I have already "disposed" of Officer Smith and talked to Officer Burton about everything.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

This is the clue now that you have all what you need except one.
Right click the watch tower beside it (tree) and Peter will note that it is run by bots. They must detect you with the dental treatment.
Also remember that: If you sit on the plank bed, it will be the next time to have the cell door open.

I know about the plank bed and cell door. Thought I tried both right and left clicking on everything but maybe not in the right place so let me go see what happens.

Thank you MaG!

Edit. Nope. I had gotten that message before. I guess I don't know what to do with this info. I did try talking to Officer Burton again but there is no new conversation. I know I have to do something with the string and I assume the Magpie also. I haven't found the right spot to use it yet.

I appreciate that you are not giving me the answer outright but I guess I need a little more to go on.

Edit again. Just re-read what you wrote and thought of something else there might be to try. Let me check.

And Edit again. That did the trick. Let's see what I can do out in the yard now!!

YAY! I'm back in Brooklyn!

Your clues Rock MaG!!! broccoli yay

MaG, MaG, MaG,

I have spent a good 3 hours trying to figure out these dish things in the igloo. I'm worn out from the stairs and halls. I feel I must be missing something somewhere because I know running back and forth and up and down cannot possible be the answer.

I've got a disc and a "blank" piece of paper from the dead guy and I've spoke with the computer.

Please push me somewhere. I don't know why this game has been so hard for me. I've been playing it for a whole month now.

Thanks.

Be sure that you have checked all monitors/active areas by the AI-computer.
That blank paper is not blank. Maybe the hidden clue can be brought to the light.

I've checked the monitors to the left and right of the doorway but can't seem to get to any others. Sometimes this game is hard to maneuver in. Should I be able to walk the circle around the computer room?

Figured the paper isn't blank, that's why I put the quotes around it. Haven't found a place yet where it shows anything though.

MAybe I should place my clue in quotes too.
Maybe the hidden clue can be brought to the "light".

Sorry MaG. I got that part and have been trying that but so far have not found the place for the paper.

I will go click around some more. Should I be able to see more than just the monitors on the 2 sides of the door?

Now you have the clue from the paper. You can ignore the monitors by the AI for the moment.
Read Graham's diary.
Study the world map at the corridor.
Access the dishes.
Click to reveal..
The aim here is to sabotage the relay of the dishes.

MaG - it is the dishes that have had me going up and down the stairs for over 3 hrs. I don't mean to be obtuse but the diary does not help. I see a picture, that's it. It doesn't help me.

I actually just read the blank paper. It was so light I just didn't see it before but I had already solved the corridor map by trial and error.

Okay. Sorry to be the one that's not understanding what you've done and got you to jogging all over. <pant>
Hope I am clear here.
Geez - I remember the pain of this puzzle. I think I got a very bad headache and much frustration.

I presume you correlated the blank paper code with the map also.

So you read the diary.
Based on Graham's diary, only 3 stations are needed to be turn off to sabotage the whole system.

Based on the Bermuda Relay Station, #2 is the one that is receiving signal input from North America.

Since you have destroyed that relay station, also verified by the 'no signal input' on the stand by the stairs in the bulkhead - no adjustment is needed for that dish.

The other 4 parabolic dishes will not receive any transmission if they are all adjusted to receive input from North America via the destroyed Bermuda Triangle relay station.
So, the object of the puzzle is to adjust all the dishes to point at North America (directly or indirectly).

--- Learn which dish points to what continent.
Remember that #2 (Bermuda) points to NA. Remember that #2 setting.
--- Then point them to NA (directly or indirectly).

Oye. I don't know if I understand this or not but I'll give it a go.

You did not have me jogging all over. I was doing that before I came and asked for help.

Just curious, where did it say that "#2 is the one that is receiving signal input from North America" or how would I have known that? (I already adjusted all of the dishes so too late for that. The "no signal input" on the stand has jumped to a different button.)

I may have to print this out at work tomorrow to keep in front of me while I try to figure it out. I'm going back in tonight for a bit more but probably won't get anywhere.

Thank you so much for trying to explain this to me. I hope I get it so it is not time wasted for you.

#2: When you were in Bermuda Relay station - there's a panel that shows it's getting signal from NA.
Doesn't Graham's diary (last page) show a drawing of the dishes?
At the AI room - there's a control panel that shows that at lower right there's no signal.

I guess I don't remember the panel on the Bermuda platform.

Yes, there is a drawing but it's not really helpful (to me anyway).

Yes, on the panel the original one that said no signal changed to a different one after I had been changing all the numbers up. I was able to set them back to where they originally were to start fresh. I now have two of them showing no signal but truthfully, not because I understand what I'm doing.

That's all for tonight though.

Thank you so much for the help MaG!

1. Familiarize yourself by going down the stairs and make a whole rotation back to Dish 1. Note that each dish room has a stand that is used to rotate the dish.

2. In between, the stairs is a map that shows the continent that a dish is receiving data from. Since we know that #2 dish is for North America, then we know which map shows where that dish is pointing to.
Click to reveal..

3. Verify that #2 dish is pointing to NA. Note down the settings.
Click to reveal..
Take note of the setting - 108 on the #2 stand. Move the dish using the arrows to either right or left extreme. Go to the North America map and see that the highlighted area has moved. Go back to the stand and enter 108 again on the stand.

4. Adjust the other dishes to point to NA.
Click to reveal..
Go to the stand on each dish room and click on the arrows to turn the dish. Turn the dish to extreme right or left - 'as far as it goes'. Look at the map that shows its target and see if it points to North America or to a continent that is adjusted to point to N. America in its relay. 3 dishes are needed to be silenced.

Break out the Champagne. I finally finished the game!

By the way, I have no idea what this means: "or to a continent that is adjusted to point to N. America in its relay".

I just had to rely on luck.

I thank you so much for your help MaG. I am going to give us both a break (and Marian) and play a nice casual game next I think.

woot

hamster bravo I'm impressed that you really worked on this game.

Point to N. America in its relay: For example - #5 dish when adjusted extreme right or left points to Australia & South America (checked in map). Dish #1 points to South America and NA. So the signal is relayed via SA.

Oh. Okay.

Thank you for that explanation. I did better going by the numbers. Dish 2 was 108. I used dish 1 at 0 and dish 3 at 216. Were there other combinations?

And then after all that work, it wasn't even over. There came Susan to replace Christine.

I too am impressed by the fact that you really try to get through these games on your own. It's so tempting now to just run to the walkthrough when stuck in a game.

Congrats on finishing. smile

Thanks Marian and MaG. As I'm sure you both know I do get frustrated with them sometimes and go for the walkthrough just so I can finish the game up. Of course, sometimes I recognize that it is just too hard for you to give hints, especially with a non-linear game because it's hard to know what a person has done or not done. And sometimes, it just depends on my mood or state of mind at the time and then I get mad and blame the game. shame
