There are 4 RAR downloads, no install and a Zip download. Please confirm that this is 2 different ways to download the game (either the 4 RAR downloads OR the Zip as opposed to having to download all of these). And is there a benefit to one or the other?

Also, to save the downloads on disc, do I just copy the downloaded file onto a disc? Not just asking about Gray Matter for this, but all the games I have there. I just download and then copy that download to a disc? I have a 183 GB Flash Drive. Would that be better to use?

Thanks.

Yes they are the same. I think they added the zip file for the sake of those who were confused about how to use multi-part rar files.

The advantage of the rar files is that you can put them on two single-layer DVD's.
The zip file is too large for a single-layer DVD.
A single-layer DVD will only hold 4.7 GB and the zip file is around 5.2 GB.

Yes, as long as the games are DRM-free, just copy the installer file or files to a DVD or Flash drive.

I'd back it up both ways.
I don't think the DRM-free version was available anywhere else.

Thank you Jenny100. Good point about the DVD size. I didn't think about that. I do have a couple of double layer DVD's. Do you use them differently than single layer?

My Flash Drive is actually 128 GB, not 183 as I typed above. I can put all the games on there. I double checked that they all say DRM Free.

Also, do I leave a zipped file zipped when I copy it over or unzip it first, or doesn't it matter?

As long as your burner is capable of burning double layer DVD's, I think you burn them the same way you burn single layer DVD's. I've only used the single layer DVD's.

If you're copying to a Flash drive, it doesn't matter.
If you're copying to a DVD drive, any files that are unzipped will be changed to "read-only." Changing a zip file to "read-only" won't affect it. But if you unzip files to a folder and burn the folder to DVD, it might or might not affect how the game plays -- for example if one of the game files is supposed to be updated when you save, and it's been changed to read-only, you'll have problems saving.

I have Gray Matter in my GOG library, and everything they sell is DRM-free.

So it is. Either I was thinking of another ShinyLoot game or I misspelled when doing the Search.

So leave the zipped files zipped is how I'm reading that (for the DVD's anyway).

One more question. Are burning and copying the files over to the DVD the same?

Thank you.
