Very, very bad for you. I too used to be a Diet Coke addict. I had to go cold turkey. There are no benefits to drinking it but all the benefits of quitting!

I cut soft drinks out of my diet years ago - and the low-calorie sodas have junk in them too that is no good for you.

Having said that, my dentist told me years ago that if I *had* to drink some type of soda, that 7-UP and Sprite (in moderation, of course) don't wreak quite as much havoc on your teeth as Coke and Pepsi do.

The best kind is flavored seltzers or sparking water. Many do not have salt or sugar added and they are tasty.

This is a good graphic of how much sugar is in sodas and many soft drinks. The stuff in diet sodas is arguably even worse for you. Haven't had a soda or soft drink in 20 years... never did like them because they are just too sweet. There is some research out there to suggest the companies know how addictive sugar is. Kaki's Sister has a very good suggestion.
