I'm having a problem with my computer starting be itself, it's happen twice in the last two days, what's happening? I installed Windows 10 about a week ago and haven't had a problem until now. Is this some kind of update going on or what? How do I stop this from happening?

Thanks,
Marie

Is the computer actually turned off or is it in sleep mode?

It's turned off, I don't use sleep mode.

Make sure it's not set to "wake on LAN" or wake on mouse movement.
It's possible a Windows Update changed a setting.
You never know when Windows 10 is updating.

Check ***this thread at tenforums*** on the subject of Windows 10 waking up the computer.

Seems to be a fairly common issue with Windows 10.
Sometimes it seems to fix itself, then recurs.

That youtube video looks likes the way to solve my computer problem. I'm not going to try the battery thing just go to settings and do the rest, hopefully that will be the cure. I'll let you know how everything turns out.

Thank you Jenny100 for your help, I couldn't have done it by myself.

Fast Startup has been the culprit most of the time. I put mine to sleep every night and shut it down completely on Sunday night. Every now and then I will find it on in the morning during the week. So far I'm pretty sure it's the cat! But it's never started up after being shut down completely.

Windows update can bring your computer out of sleep mode to install updates. Also make sure that your power button options are set so the power button is set to shutdown and not sleep or hibernate. Go into the old style control panel in windows 10 and chose Power Options and then select choose what the power button does. You can also turn off fast startup by clicking on change settings that are currently unavailable and then uncheck turn on fast startup. To get to the old windows 7 style control panel go to windows system in the new start menu and you will find it in there.

Well my computer didn't start up by itself this morning, so it looks like unchecking the fast start up did the trick.
