The Obituary of Martin Levine

“Martin Levine, owner of a movie theater chain in New York City, has passed away at age 65,” read the newspaper obit. “The funeral will be held on Thursday at 2:10, 4:20, 6:30, 8:40, and 10:50.”

Yorkshire Police Stop Teacher in 'Stolen' Minbus

Gillian Hainsworth encountered unexpected trouble when she took a party of pupils on a school trip and found herself surrounded by Yorkshire police, who accused the teacher of stealing the minibus.

Mrs Hainsworth drove to a concert venue and found herself suddenly boxed in by three police vans. An officer then tapped on her driver's window and ordered her to explain why she was driving a stolen vehicle. Mrs Hainsworth, 51, was questioned for 15 minutes before the officers realised they had made a mistake.

The hired minibus had previously been reported stolen and was still listed as such on the police database.

Eventually the police officers saw the funny side of the confusion and put handcuffs on the teacher so that her pupils could take photos, which they posted on Facebook.

Mrs Hainsworth, a music teacher at Tadcaster Grammar School in North Yorkhire, said: "When they said the word 'stolen' I couldn't help but laugh because I knew I had not stolen the minibus. And it was so obvious that we were carrying a load of schoolchildren on the bus - what an odd way to use a stolen vehicle."

Mark Twain - Strange Prediction

Mark Twain was born on the day of the appearance of Halley's Comet in 1835, and died on the day of its next appearance in 1910. He himself predicted this in 1909, when he said, 'I came in with Halley's Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it.'

Major Summerford - Lightning Strikes Twice

British Army officer, Major Summerford, was fighting in the fields of Flanders in February 1918 [1st World War 1914-1918] when was knocked off his horse by a flash of lightning and paralysed from the waist down. Summerford retired and moved to Vancouver, Canada.

One day in 1924, as he fished alongside a river, lightning hit the tree he was sitting under and paralysed his right side. In 1930 he was out walking on a summer's day when a lightning bolt smashed into him, permanently paralysing him. He died two years later. But lightning sought him out one last time. Four years later, during a storm by an amazing coincidence, lightning struck a cemetery and destroyed his tombstone.

````````````````````````````````
Scarcely Believable Coincidences
In 1899 a bolt of lightning killed a man as he stood in his backyard in Taranto, Italy. Thirty years later his son was killed in the same way and in the same place. On October 8, 1949, Rolla Primarda, the grandson of the first victim and the son of the second, became the third. What an amazing coincidence.
````````````````````````````

Shooting Coincidence

On July 28th 1900, the King of Italy, Umberto I, was having dinner in a restaurant in the city of Monza. It turned out later that the restaurant's owner looked identical to the king. The restaurant owner's name was Umberto, his wife's name was the same as the queen's and the restaurant was opened on the same date as the king's coronation. The Restaurant-owner Umberto was shot dead the next day, by an amazing coincidence, so was King Umberto.

`````````````````````````````
Amazing Father and Son Coincidence
Claude Volbonne killed Baron Rodemire de Tarazone of France in 1872. 21 years earlier, the Baron's father had been murdered by somebody else called Claude Volbonne.
``````````````````````````````

Another Amazing Father and Son Coincidence

On February 13, 1746, a Frenchman, Jean Marie Dubarry, was executed for the murder of his father. Precisely 100 years later, on February 13, 1846, another Frenchman, also named Jean Marie Dubarry, was executed - for the murder of his father.

``````````````````````````````
Hanging: Amazing Coincidences
On the 26th November, 1911, three men were hanged at Greenberry Hill in London after being convicted of the murder of Sir Edmund Berry. As a strange coincidence their names were Green, Berry and Hill.
``````````````````````````````

Hernán Cortés - Mayan PredictionCortez Prediction

Hernán Cortés' arrival in Mexico in 1519 coincided with the year in the Mayan Calendar when it was predicted that the pale-faced man-god Quetzalcoatl would return to reclaim the city of Tenochtitlán. The Aztecs therefore assumed Cortés to be the legendary man-god, which assisted him in capturing the city and then the whole of Mexico.

````````````````````````````
Newspapers Premonition - Another Amazing Coincidence
Oregon's Columbian newspaper announced the winning Pick 4 lottery numbers for June 28, 2000 in advance. The newspaper had intended to print the previous set of winning numbers but erroneously printed those for the state of Virginia, namely 6-8-5-5. By a strange coincidence, in the next Oregon lottery, those same numbers were drawn.
``````````````````````````

Dead man's hand

In 1858, Robert Fallon was shot dead by his opponents for allegedly cheating whilst playing cards for money

Fallon, it was claimed, had won the £300 [$600USD] through cheating. With Fallon dead and his seat empty none of the other players willing to take the now-unlucky £300

The other gamblers found a new player to take Fallon's place and staked him with the dead man's £300. By the time the police had arrived to investigate the killing, the new player had turned the £300 into £1,070 [$2,200USD] in winnings

The police demanded the original £300 to pass on to Fallon's next of kin; only to discover that the new player turned out to be Fallon's son, who had not seen his father for seven years.

````````````````````````````
Travelling Companions Amazing Coincidences
Travelling by train across Peru during the 1920's were three Englishmen. They did not know one another and they turned out to be the only three men on that train at that time in that particular carriage. They were introduced to each other
One man's last name was Bingham, and the second man's last name was Powell. The third man announced that his last name was Bingham-Powell
None were related in any way
```````````````````````````````````

Titan -> Titanic

In 1898, 14 years before the Titanic made her maiden voyage, Morgan Robertson published his book, 'Futility' or 'The Wreck of the Titan.'

This was the story of an "unsinkable" massive ocean liner, which like the Titanic, was on its maiden voyage from Britain to New York in the month of April, with 2,000 people on board. While it was also attempting to cross the Atlantic in record time, it too struck an iceberg and sank. Not only were the ships' names very similar, but most on board also perished simply because there was of a lack of lifeboats.

`````````````````````````````
The Biggest Coincidence Ever
In 1975, while riding a moped on the island of Bermuda, a man was accidentally struck and killed by a taxi.
Exactly one year later, this man's brother was killed in the very same way.
It was established that he was, in fact, riding the very same moped. To make this coincidence even more difficult to believe, he was struck by the very same taxi driven by the same driver who, wait for it, was even carrying the very same passenger.
Good morning everyboomie. welcome
Know any strange coincidences? sherlock
I remember a time many years ago when I sold resort property at a development on a lake. On a busy weekend the company's owner Mike Ward was introducing himself to a customer. He extended his hand out to shake the man's hand and announced his name "Mike Ward". The customer stood up and said "Yes, how are you?". Mr Ward asked, "What's your name sir?" The customer looked perplexed at him and said, "It's Mike Ward." lol
When I was attending college, on the GI bill, at West Texas State University, I received a call one night at home, and the conversation went like this;
Me: Hello
Caller: Joe?
Me: Yes?
Caller: Is this Joe?
Me: Yes it is.
Caller: Joe Lilley?
Me: Yes??
Caller: Well you don't sound like you.
Me: Who is this?
Caller: It's your mother!
Me: Well, you don't sound like my mother. headscratch
Her son, also named Joe Lilley, also a veteran, was going to the same school. crazy
That was before the age of cell phones......and automobiles.......and television... wink
If you have a strange coincidence I'd love to hear about it. bravo
I've got an early wake up and ya know what that means. sleep
Have a happy day everyone. thumbsup
Good news about my tenants and the plumbing adventure. Ran into the resident son and he was all excited about some 'tool' his brother from Los Angeles had told him to buy. He showed it to me. Some sort of thing you hook to a short garden hose, and then push into the pipe that then 'expands' when you turn on the tap. It reminds me of a 'stent' that you get for blood flow.
Anyway, he is all thrilled and then he said his Nephew is coming over Saturday to help him. Nice. I had expected to get a nasty phone call from the LA brother, but I guess he knew that I was right. So now we will have a Nephew here. I had just stopped at Home Depot and bought an entire 'assembly' of drain pipes for under the sink. The ones under there now (put in by some other relative before I owned the place) are all a mixed contraption that looks like Rube Goldberg built it. They tend to just fall apart if you bump them while doing anything under the sink. I thought it best to replace them with REAL double sink pipe assembly parts. I told him I'd give them to the Nephew if he is here Saturday. I didn't want them to get lost somewhere if I gave them to him now. You never know about this family.
Hoping for the best that the get the clog cleared and don't just make the entire problem worse. I anticipate they will push the clog farther into the wall and they will end up with the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink BOTH clogged. I can see it now.
Have a great Friday Joe, Sorta and all who follow. wave
It's Thursday night here, and I'm off to sleep for another (probably short) work day. I'm going to try to get off early tomorrow, as we're supposed to have a blizzard and potentially up to 3 feet of snow. eek I don't think it will start until later in the afternoon, but I'm going to try to leave as early as I can just to be on the safe side. Then I plan on spending the weekend gaming with my kitties. grin
Off to sleep now. Have a great Friday, everyone. winter winter
Not cold here or raining or snowing. I feel awful for all of you in the mid-West and East. Grew up there so I know how snow can affect the whole thing. Ugh. Hoping that it's much less than they predict. Stay safe, stay warm.
