Hi all,
I think I told you all that I had a new custom built gaming computer. The thing is that a friend a family members bought it for me. I am please for the most part with the components such as the graphic card GTX950, 500 watts power ect but they got me an intel i3 processor. I though was great until I read the specs for Lost Horizon which requires an i5 processor. I thoughgt that a adventure game would not require such high specs. Well my question to you is this, is it worth maybe an additional $200 for just one game or such i be thankful for what was really given to me.

I really enjoyed Lost Horizon so maybe I will take a chance on Horizon 2 and hope for the best.

Well my question to you is this, is it worth maybe an additional $200 for just one game or such i be thankful for what was really given to me. There will certainly be other adventure games (not just Lost Horizon 2) where you'd want an i5 over an i3. I'd recommend either an i5 or i7 unless all you want to play are older games.

I agree with Jenny... depends on whether you want to limit yourself to older games.

I would suggest having someone experienced do this if you decide to replace your CPU. If you get a new one, it should come with the appropriate CPU cooling fan. The chips usually have a pre-applied thermal paste on them. Some people remove it and apply their own thermal paste, but I've never had a problem with the pre-applied stuff.
Also, you will need to make sure you are getting the right "socket" for your mother-board. It's not as simply as just getting a better CPU - you have to get the right one.

Very few places custom build laptops. As I remember it, this is a desktop, but maybe I'm wrong.

I agree that changing a processor is not a job for a newbie. It's not something I would volunteer to do -- not without competent supervision anyway, and an appropriate workspace. And if you have someone else do it, they'll be aware of how to find the right processor to match the socket on your motherboard.
