I checked out the Big Fish forum for this game and found this. Unfortunately it looks like a glitch that happened to some players but not others.

I suppose you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the game - sometimes that fixes a problem such as this one. Or start a new profile and see if it happens again. Also check the walkthrough carefully. Otherwise, write to Big Fish Customer Support. I'm sorry this happened to you.
