HEY VIZ or Texaslady = I am in need of your save files up to the Great Zero Calibration puzzles, if there is any way you can place me there so I don't have to replay all of URU and to D'ni so I can finally have a hope of starting POTS.....am so stuck, stumped and frustrated now.
Have restarted all this (had to start over with URU as all the first saves are overwritten - hate this save system to bits) and am now stuck in Gahreesen, door to Bahro caves won't open, trying to figure out what I missed. HELP please please please....
Love, Betty Lou

I'm confused, you did all of the KI things, did green ones, the 15 or so red ones, and you've downloaded them? Did you see a door open and go inside set the great zero and complete the search for the new markers?

I hope I can clear up the confusion, mine and yours as well......I have, as far as I can determine, found and touched all the 5 first five 'markers', and my KI must have reflected that because the first 5 dim green lights on it went to dark green, then 15 dim red ones showed up and I found all of those and they went dark red, then I have/had one slot dim yellowish(?) and it is now dark yellowish(?) but only in one slot, no more than that. When I finish with all the KI calibrations in the Great Zero chambers both the 4 machines and the one outside in the Zero courtyard (?) I see a figure of a symbol that I believe signifies the shell on the 'screen' between the glass doors in the inner chamber and I see lightning flashes from that big bluish crystal thingy in the courtyard outwards towards the slim blue crystal thingys around the room, but when I link to Nexus, then to Tokotah alley precipice to await the big blue ray/shell hologram, nothing happens and I have stood there a very very long time, I see no flashes or rays anywhere away from the big Zero complex. Do not know what is wrong. I never did see any numbers or calibrations on my KI on my wrist - those 3 slots on the right side of it always registered "0" and never did change, were they supposed to reflect the numbers of the calibration machine I had just put my hand into/on? And in looking for the last set of markers in order to get the 4th machine to work, I never did find one or two of them, unless I got out of bed and did it/them in my sleep......so I don't know how my KI registered to a darker color in that last one slot......
Still confused? Guess what, so am I.
I have 'created' a new character and started all over again, and guess what, you cannot start in D'ni, you have to go all the way back to the beginning of URU just to get where you want to be - this save system s...s! excuse my bad language, am totally frustrated, but determined not to give up, to get to the end of this D'ni and on to POTS, if it sends me to the nut house or kills me in the process! Thanks for your help. Hope you can figure this out for me and help me solve it and get on my way. Love ya,
Love, Betty Lou

Hi Jenny, received your email, downloaded your attached sav folder to my game (do not need to delete the other character folders there as each one remains as a separate "player" and I should not have to type your char. name in as a new player as it should be in your personalization setup file(folder) in your saves. See my email back to you. I cannot get your save file/s to work for me. Maybe sending each and every folder in your C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Cyan Worlds\sav folder as a separate attachment and my downloading them into your "account" which is named by a series of numbers and letters by the game itself, might work better for me. Maybe? Thanks for all your time and effort to help me. In the meantime I will continue to play my replay (different character name) and hope I get somewhere with it.

laugh Well, blow me down and knock me over with a feather! slapforehead rotfl laugh Something you said at the bottom of your email suddenly turned on a light bulb! You said, "The next book is the beginning of the Path of the Shell--I would recommend that you DELETE the three that come after that one,..." I was not aware that I could delete any of the books that have the LARGE metal tab on the bottom of it/them, so I have looked at my original game (as Ti'Ana) and deleted the NEXUS book and gone back to Eder Gira/Kemo to replay what I need to to continue on. I see that (and have tried) to delete Aegura etc (after Gira/Kemo) but it cannot be done so do not know how this will affect my gameplay. Will keep you posted how I do, am now trying to light that last dark cave with my fireflies or a generator, only a bit confused here but 'barrelling on' to see what I can do. If I can get to where I want to be, maybe being careful to follow the w/t to the letter will get me 'unstuck' at the end of D'ni. Thanks
Love, Betty Lou

Hi Jen, Have not been successful at using your saved games but continued on with replaying the game as my 2nd character and with some difficulty and many hold-ups here and there have succeeded in completing the ages and jumped into the cleft. But before that, while choosing each book to return the Totems to the cave ~my new problem is extremely weird~ = Back at Relto, in the hut, in front of the bookcase and facing it (I can see my character in this view), I choose the book by clicking on the bookshelf/books and used to get a close-up of the books so I can choose one, not I get a close-up but it immediately returns to the other view - that is I can see the character looking at the shelves. Now I thought, "so a minor glitch, I must have accidently hit a key on the keyboard (hotkey?) to alter something, but it does not seem to matter so will continue on". HOWEVER, having jumped into the void, arrived back at the Cleft and gone to Yeesha's home and the projector, NOW when I click on the projector in order to arrange the 4 symbols in the correct places - I am inside my character's head looking out thru her skin! I can see thru it/her but can also see my eyes in their goggles blinking and can see her lips (from inside her) etc. This would be OK but it has done something else too, it has removed my cursor's ability to click on the 4 buttons to change the symbols, nothing happens, so then I use my arrow key to back up out of this "ghostly apparition" and cannot change the symbol buttons from this view either. Does anyone know of one of the hotkeys that would give this view of things and which one I need to revert back too a 'playable' cursor? Very strange.
It is almost as if I am jinxed from playing this game, am so near the end of URU so I can start to D'ni over from the beginning, and this happens. Any suggestions?

Betty Lou, I've never heard of anything like that--it's normal to see a third person view, even when you are playing in first person, when you are doing certain things, but nothing like you are describing.

Why don't you try leaving the game completely, and then starting it up again...

Every once in a while, the URU game engine does freaky things, Betty Lou--people have reported sinking into the floor and walking through walls... eek

Yes, it was an unsettling experience, very weird.
Now, I am having trouble finding all the markers I need. Has anyone got a 'screen shot' of the one "Left wall outside the Pub"? My KI does not even register a signal there at all only inside the Pub......
I need a 'screen shot' of the marker in the "recess to the right after King's hall and before the balcony" I found one UNDER that balcony, but on the balcony my KI registers flashing red and I cannot find it at all......
My KI once only registered a marker "inside the egg room" that is inside the egg-shaped or domed linking room outside the classroom, but I could not find the marker no matter which 'age' I looked in. And I cannot find any markers in either age of the room next to the classroom called "The Egg Room".......help me please?
As it is going now I do not see how I am going to be able to locate 30 markers, I will be lucky to find 27 - and I have walked EVERYWHERE in every Nexus selection.....
Love, Betty Lou

Betty Lou, first of all, I have found that when my KI is flashing red and I click on that red flash, I get another marker dot even if I can't physically see the circle. You might try that to see if it works all the time or if it was just a fluke in my game.

As for where the markers are located, are you using the Buda walkthrough here at GB? Because it doesn't mention a marker outside the pub--there is a number 2 after the information about the marker inside the pub, but that refers to a note at the end of the marker list.

Why don't you print out the list, cross off the ones you already have, and let me know what's left. I'll see if I can give you more help on those...

Betty Lou, glad that you are "back in the game" wink
Printing the list and checking each marker off is a great suggestion. That is how I did it.
Re-reading your post, I think that you made the same mistake that I did in the Great Zero. The first 5 markers can all be uploaded at one time, then the next 15 all at once. The last 5 have to be uploaded 1 at a time. Find the first one, go back to the Zero, upload it, etc.

Regarding which walkthrough and a list of the markers - I am currently trying to follow C Buda's w/t from here at GB. I have printed out his list of 25 markers and a similar list of markers (26) from the other w/t at uruobsession. While the two lists have some descriptions exactly the same, there are some differences in descriptions of other places to look. And of course the obsession w/t has one more listed than CBuda's. By combining the two lists being careful to not add a marker just because the geographical description is different for the same place I have a list of 28 markers.
I have printed out both lists and checked off and numbered sequentially each and every marker I have found so far.
The ones I have an indication is supposed to be 'there' but can't find are:
Recess to the right after King's hall and before balcony, red marker is very strong in a small area on the left of that balcony, but no marker appears to me. I also had an indication ~ once ~ that there was a marker in the linking book room (is this what they are calling the Egg room?, the only time that marker shows up is when I am in the age where the 'other' Egg Room door next to the classroom door will not open for me, in the other 'ages' it does not show up at all.
There are two on the obsession list and on the CBuda list that are not there at all according to my KI indicator and they are on the Tokotah rooftop with the two slits. Also this time around I cannot find one in the Baron's office.
Let's just say that I am having a great deal of difficulty trying to find my last 3 markers I need because they are not showing up where they are supposed to be according to both w/t's.
Viz, I will give it a try clicking on my KI red signal to see if that works. But before I do that = I have registered every marker I have found both in the machines next to all the linking machines, then at the machine at Great Zero, and have been very careful to only do what the walkthru tells me to, step by step. I am now at GZ in the '4 machine' room, have completed my first task with the 1st machine on the left side next to the 'window' and done all the registering I am supposed to and the w/t tells me I to continue by clicking on the tiny blue button on the second machine left side closest to the stairs and then click on the blue button on it, but I have done this and nothing happens, no reaction whatsoever and my KI does not show another light yellow slot ready to accept the next marker, if I should ever find one. So it seems I am once again STUCK. Also I have looked at that 'logo' on that champagne-glass-shape in the 'in-between' area and the logo is not the shell one I am supposed to see, so that is why I was stuck before and could not proceed, something is not activating as it should, or I have missed doing something, I just wish I could figure out what..........
I will let you know if clicking on my KI red flashing signal works for me or not.
Thank you both for 'watching over my shoulder' and helping me along. I sure wish I could get to the end of D'ni and go on to POTS, but don't have much hope of that happening now. frown
Love, Betty Lou

Betty Lou,

I will add to Buda's list from my recollections...

Additional Green or Red Markers:

- There is one on the Bevin Balcony (accessible from the link stone in Garheesen near the KI machine).

- The one outside the Pub is in the wall on your left after you jump over the rubble just before the pub entrance door.

- There is also a marker on the roof of the classroom. You can get it by standing (balancing) on a cone just to the left of the classroom door and jumping up (or you can attempt the dreaded balcony leap).

- Rear of the Library, right next to the cliff.

Also, Buda lists some of the Hood markers from Bevin and some from Kirel. I was able to get all of them from either hood.

Jenny is right, that you should be able to secure the markers even if you can't see them, if the red "radar" is flashing.

Hope that gets you enough to finish.

Dadguy

OK, Betty Lou. That is exactly what I thought that you were doing. I did the same thing. This is all from memory, but when you load the first Ki marker, that gives you the location of the second. Go find the second marker, then come back and load it into the second machine. This gives you the location of the 3 and so on. The walk through is very vague on this part.

Betty Lou, I had a terrible time with the first of those four machines too, and it was all because I was skipping a step!

When you are ready to get the marker, put your KI in the machine and push the blue button. That should register the marker dot on your KI. Now go find it (this first one is in the Kadish Art Gallery right in plain sight).

After you collect the marker to your KI, go back to the machine, put your Ki in, AND PUSH THE BLUE BUTTON AGAIN!!!! That's the step I was missing--now you are ready to go to the second machine...

Well, I have bad, sad news = I surrender = this game save system is the worst I have ever encountered......and while I have made so many lists of the markers I have found and I am pretty sure of the ones I still need to find my KI has stopped working for me (and I have not shut it off), I still cannot get the 2nd (and 3rd) machines to respond to my attempts to follow the correct instructions to the letter, however the 4th machine is working, even tho I have only registered the marker needed for the 1st machine and not those for 2 and 3, I cannot proceed with the game, something just is not 'clicking'. I may confuse you with this explanation - join my club! I have been very careful to follow the w/t and found the marker I needed for the 1st machine, came back and registered it in the KI machine at Rezeera, approached and clicked on the 2nd machine and it is already up and running (?) do not understand this as I have not even started my quest for the 2nd machine marker, and the 3rd and 4th machines are also running already, but only one slot on my KI indicates I have completed my first quest. Yet, when I check that big orange structure out the window behind the 4 machines, the only thing I see is 'rain' falling on it from above, no big blue ray emanating out from it to anywhere. There also is no 'shell' hologram showing in the in-between courtyard, and at the Tokotah Alley precipice there is no blue ray/shell showing for me to jump into.
I give up. Have deleted all my saves and the game, reinstalled both game discs, and copied Jenny's sav files into the game, but nothing is working. Enough is enough already. I can honestly say there is not even ONE other game that has brought me to tears like this one has and it is simply not worth it to continue with this frustration. See ya around in some other game.
Thanks for all your help and suggestions - giving up like this is not easy for me - I am basically a very stubborn person.
Love, Betty Lou

Betty Lou, I sure wish that I were closer to Sacramento so that I could see your game in person! However, all is not totally lost, because if you have the CD for Path of the Shell installed, you do not have to do To D'ni to begin that one.

Just go into your Relto and look to the right--there should be a bunch of new books on the second shelf, and at least one new on at the far right end of the shelf on the left hand wall. There may be three new one, I don't remember if they came one at a time, as in URU, or all at once...

Betty Lou, I've been reading your saga with URU, like Jenny said, don't give up. If you want to finish D'ni, do it later when you aren't so frustrated with it.
Go on to POTS and kick some alien crabs, have a nice swim and get lost all over again. I accidentally started POTS before I finished D'ni because I opened a new book and didn't pay attention. It won't mess up your game to D'ni.

Well, leave it to me to throw another monkey wrench into the works - I have restored from my trashbin everything Uru/D'ni which I dumped last night in a snit.....and it is all there. Have restarted up the game and chosen one of my characters (both were taken to the end of URU and close to the end of D'ni) and my second bookshelf is empty! Where did all those books go that were there a couple of days ago? At what point did I see all those books? <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

I have the first 10 books in the first 10 slots on the top shelf. And the rest of the slots both shelves are presently empty. I know at one time I saw there were 36 books in their slots but can't remember when I saw them and can't figure out what happened to them.

Betty Lou, if you are just starting POTS, which you should have in the way of books is this:

Left wall of hut: ten books on top shelf, none on bottom shelf

Right wall of hut: two books on top shelf, six on bottom shelf

The ones on the right wall are not essential to the game, they just give clues, which you will see in the form of numbers throughout POTS...

OK, so then which book are you talking about my picking and using to start POTS? At one time, somewhere in this game, I had 36 books on the left hand set of bookshelves, now I only have 10. The books on the shelf to the right of the wardrobe are journals and will not 'link' me anywhere. What do I do now? You said to choose the farthest book on the left shelves ?second shelf? but there are none there......just call me confused
