To this very day I still prefer point and click games and still RPG many of the games I have will not play on my windows 7, my tech will not put 8 on as he does not trust it and he says he will put 10 on in about a year but only with a disc as the downloads are normally a problem. Are there any new, well three years or so, games that are new? I have not been on here in two years it seems so yes I am back but dying to play games again. Syberia plays and I am thrilled, I am having trouble with Dungeon Siege which was my first game. I have the Witcher the first one, the the others are not point and click, any help would make me truly happly. Thanks so much.

Maggie think bravo

Have you looked at our Windows 7 and Games thread down in the Glitches forum? I had very few problems with games and Windows 8, but am having some issues with Windows 10 and gaming. Mostly it is related to the DRM that some games had. What RPG games are not playing on Windows 7 for you? Almost all of my RPGs played on Windows 7.

I have installed Windows 10 through the upgrade downloads for 5 people plus myself and have had no problems at all. In fact, I'd have to say it has been the most problem-free download upgrade I've ever done.

Maggie, there's a new action RPG out from the developers of Titan Quest.

You can download it from GOG here.

I seem to remember that you liked Titan Quest, so this new game might be worth checking out.

Maggie57, If you don't mind repurchasing old favorites, both GOG.com and Steam handle older games that have been set up to play on the newer platforms and they're usually fairly cheap.

Thanks so much for your answers I had heard of GOG but did not know how good they are now yes I will get some games hard of me to break the habit of point and click, I still replay my first Witcher wish they had not changed the other ones or given us a choice at least. Thanks

Maggie

I highly recommend GOG for older games and getting to play on new platforms. Their customer service is excellent too. If you would like to try a new point and click, I just downloaded the new Samorost 3. Dearly love these Amanita games! Machinarium is still my favorite though.

One relatively newer game I forgot to mention is "The Banner Saga," a Strategy/RPG based on Norse mythos. The game engine utilized the old style turn based combat system that allows you to select what your characters are going to do and then engage the action once you're set up. It's fairly short and linear as RPG's go, maybe 10-12 hours of game play, but that's because it's somewhat of a Proof of Concept for the fledgling development house that put it out. Right now it's 19.99 on GOG, but The Banner Saga 2 will be coming out soon and I'm guessing that the first one will come down in price when that's released. The game has some very nice artwork and a slower pace. Some of the dialogue is a bit sketchy, not sure if that was due to a language barrier or something missed in testing, but either way the offering is very interesting. I would say wait until it goes on sale after the second iteration comes out, but it is a valid offering along the lines of what you are looking for.

These sorts of issue led me to get an Xbox 360 some years ago, but I still do not like thumb stick game controllers and long for a console that offers the option of an optical mouse (or similar) for greater aiming precision: I have even wondered about trying some sort of DIY effort.

Fiat the risk of somewhat diverting this thread, is anyone aware of anything to overcome this particular issue?

Hey Lex,

If you're talking about the issue of using a game controller over a keyboard and mouse on an XBOX 360, there is a company by the name of XIMO that produces a device, the XIM4, that allows you to use a keyboard and mouse. It's not cheap, $125.00 , but this new version works on most popular game consoles; Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
