I was moving along really good and enjoying this game until I got stuck in the cave in front of the turtle picture story puzzle. This does not seem like it should be all that hard, yet I have been crushed by that boulder over 100 times (not exaggerating)between last night and today. I'm tempted to just go to the w/t but I know I'll be mad at myself if I do. Not sure what you can tell me without giving me the answer but I needed to get rid of this frustration for a minute. Off to try some more.

Thank you for "listening".

It might prove difficult to give you hints for this without providing an outright answer.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Marian. I finally got it. I ended up just starting to go through every possible combination and finally hit it. Of course, I had to repeat it a couple of times before I made it through the whole sequence but that was ok because I wanted to look at the 'story' to see what I had done wrong. Seems like something I would have tried but apparently didn't. That's why I really didn't want to just get the answer. I know it was a puzzle I should have been able to get on my own. Hopefully I can play for awhile before bed time without getting stuck again!

Good for you. thumbsup

I replayed this game in the last year and ended up looking at the walkthrough for that puzzle.

ARGH!!! I am Frank now and stuck down in the cave with Big Mike and Pua. I don't like this puzzle where you step on the stones and they change positions while trying to get to the other side. Big Mike's already beat me 3 or 4 times. I don't like when he is moving and I have no control over my mouse.

Made it through the puzzle which ended the game. The review states that you can finish the game and miss playing parts of it (which I do not like) so I am going to look at the w/t to see if I missed any game play.

You'll get it - it just takes time and patience. It took me a good while to get through this part. smile

Well done. thumbsup

About missing parts of the game - on my most recent playthrough I missed a whole phone conversation with someone - a completely different character. Not sure what I didn't do that would have triggered it. There may have been a few other things I missed as well.

It's been nagging at me ever since. sherlock

Who didn't you talk to? I don't really see any actual gameplay that I missed (from looking at the w/t) but I didn't read all the Hawaii info so I might go back in and do that and collect some more shells and fish some more. I actually found this game pretty relaxing except the last puzzle.

Maybe you should replay it again.

Who I didn't talk to was apparently a phone character, someone you never actually see in the game. I am not sure what the triggers are. I am hoping that during my next playthrough it will finally happen.

I talked to some people over the phone. I initiated the calls myself but one of them called me back. If I missed any I guess I wouldn't know.

I went back in and fished and picked up shells and made more necklaces and then I bought the knick knacks thinking they might do something (like maybe I could play that ukulele or whatever it is or that the hula dancer would dance for me) but you can't even bring them up in close up view to get a good look at them. I was disappointed. Done going back in the game now.

Good to see you back.

Thanks, oldbroad. My computer died last week and I am waiting for the new one to arrive on Monday. That is why my presence here has been sketchy. smile

I will play Kapu Cave again in the future, hoping to see what I missed before.

I think the only phone calls you can skip is

  • Nancy calling the number from Quigley's trunk (when Nancy gets the number, she comments about it being in Chicago)
  • Frank calling Richard Aiken
  • Joe calling Richard Aiken (when I play, I usually have Frank do it, though it is optional, though I'd imagine Joe could call too)
  • Frank calling the pawn shop
  • and Frank calling Johnny Kuto

Thanks, Jen. The part I was missing was Frank talking to Johnny Kuto. In my game, Frank never talked to him. I will try again next time.
