I really do love the newer HOG games on Big Fish. Currently I am playing "House of 1000 Doors, The Palm of Zoroaster" and it's a great game, but there are too many Hidden Object scenes! I enjoy the scenes, but I don't enjoy the games that go from one hidden object scene to another. Is it just me? I wish there was a way to "skip" some of them because it gets annoying after awhile.
I have found a few that have a lot of variety puzzles and less HO scenes. Can anyone recommend some that they know that aren't filled with so many? I like the ones that have a lot of different locations and a variety of puzzles, not only hidden objects.
thanks

I would recommend the following:

New York Mysteries: Secrets of the Mafia
New York Mysteries: High Voltage
New York Mysteries: The Lantern of Souls
Lost Lands: Dark Overlord
Lost Lands: The Four Horsemen
Lost Lands: The Golden Curse
Dark Alley: Penumbra Motel
Reality Show: Fatal Shot
Nightmare Adventures: The Witch's Prison
Nightmare Adventures: The Turning Thorn
Forest Legends: The Call of Love
Drawn: The Painted Tower
Drawn: Dark Flight
Drawn: Trail of Shadows

There are quite a few others. Some of the above have no hidden-object scenes at all; with the rest, there is more emphasis on adventuring/inventory/puzzling rather than hidden objects. Hopefully you will get more suggestions from other players - there are so many games to choose from. wave

That's great! Thank you so much Marian. I have played most of these, but not all. I'll definitely get the ones I haven't played yet. It would be so great if they had "skip" option for the scenes like they do for most of the other puzzles. I like the hidden object scenes, but in moderation....:)

Let me know when you run out and we will try to find some more for you.

A lot of these games are now giving you an alternative to playing a hidden-object scene, such as match 3, bubble popper, mahjong - but as yet no one has allowed you to just skip the whole thing. wave

That would be awesome. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I hate buying a game and finding out it just goes from one HO scene to another with no real story line.

Just checked my games and I have all of these except 4 of them, which I am buying now. Games are 60% off today! Any other ones?

I just thought of Nearwood - I thought it was a charming game, and I don't think there are any hidden-object scenes.

I would at least give the demo a try on these, though, just to make sure that they run on your computer.

Let me think about it some more - I will add any new titles to this post. smile

I really liked Emberwing: Lost Legacy. Unless my memory is failing me, there were not hidden-object scenes every other screen.

Thank you so much for the suggestions Marian. Is there a list somewhere for games with few HO scenes? That would be nice to have. You've been a great help!

If you do a search here on GameBoomers for the words "adventure lite," that might bring up a few more titles for you. The games under that heading have no hidden-object scenes at all. It's the ones that have some hidden-object scenes but are not loaded with them that would be harder to pin down using a search.

Have you played True Fear: Forsaken Souls? That has some hidden-object scenes, but overall it felt more like adventure lite to me.

I feel the same way you do. I keep a database, and rate the ones I've played. I don't always note which ones are less burdened with a lot of HOG, but some of these I did. It doesn't mean there are no HOGs, just fewer, and the game was so good that the HOGs didn't bring it down for me. (My apologies if I repeat any already mentioned to you, but I can only see my screen right now.)

Alex Hunter: Lord of the Mind
Amaranthine: Tree of Life
Awakening: Sunhook Spire
Dark Alleys: Penumbra
Dire Grove: Sacred Grove (more of an Adventure, no HOG at all)
Dreampath: Two Kingdoms
Eternal Journey: Atlantis
Riddles of Fate: Wild Hunt
Forbidden Secrets: Alien Town
Shiver: Moonlit Grove

I second the recommendation to play the Trial Game first. One person's love can be another person's dislike.

In regard to the 2 Nightmare Adventures games in Marian's list:

Nightmare Adventures: The Witch's Prison
Nightmare Adventures: The Turning Thorn

The Witch's Prison was an excellent game, but beware of The Turning Thorn. It was very buggy, and I don't think they ever fixed all of the problems.

Marian, thanks for the tip on searching for "adventure lite" games. I will definitely do that. I have purchased True Fear: Forsaken Souls already, but haven't played it yet. thumbsup

Reenie, what a great idea to keep a data base! I wish I had been doing that. I have played SO many games over the years, that sometimes I can't remember which ones I've played and what they were like. Thank you so much for your list of games. Some of them I already have, but some of them I don't yet. I don't usually bother with playing the trial first, but I think I will start doing that now so as not to waste anymore money on the ones loaded with HO scenes. I don't mind some HOG's, in fact I enjoy them, I just don't want a game with nothing bu HOG's.

Uncle Reg....thanks for the "heads up", I have the game but haven't played it yet.

Thanks again......

UruKat, I just took a chance on Twilight Phenomenon - The Lodgers of House 13 with the recent sale. Played it yesterday and today. Decent long play, and not too bad with the Bonus Game. It was a pretty good game and has NO scenes of HOG. Lots of mini-games and puzzles. Some of them don't make sense until you mess around with them for a while, but I liked that. It was pretty entertaining just to see what roadblocks they'd place in the way next! I marked it down as a Replay.

Good suggestion, Reenie - I remember now that the game had no hidden-object scenes. wave
