A friend has Malwarebytes free on her machine.. been using it for a long time... I put it on for her... she is now getting a notice that her trial of over (never started a trail) but the minute I click on end trial or anything it goes into non responsive mode.
I have uninstalled it twice... ran ccleaner and Adwcleaner reinstalled but the same thing happens even with a new install???

It looks like they only allow the Malwarebytes to be downloaded as a free trial. After 14 days, some of the functions expire, but you are supposed to be able to use it to scan. Does this help? If it becomes completely unresponsive, you will probably have to contact the folks at Malwarebytes. Their forums are pretty good.

That's what seemed strange... I've done one of the newer ones where you just click on end trial and while all the extra functions are gone, it will still update and scan.

Mine still works on my machine. That's why I thought it might be infected... but don't you think Adwcleaner would find it

Only if it's infected with adware... if there is something more nefarious on it, that wouldn't be detected. Have you had her run a scan with her anti-virus software?

Adwcleaner will not find viruses, trojans and other nasties. Too bad you are unable to run a scan with Malwarebytes also.

Good grief! I've never had the Malicious Software Removal tool take more than a few minutes! Did her AVG find anything?

I will be curious to hear what happens... In her case, the Malwarebytes Pro would have been a good thing to have. It includes Chameleon which lets you run Malwarebytes even if malware is stopping it. I used it to run a scan on a badly infected system that I had encouraged the individual to install and purchase Malwarebytes Pro on. I'm slowly coming to the realization that Malwarebytes Pro is something that is well worth the money. If your friend had two trojans on her system, she is a very good candidate for it too.

Not yet... she ran AVG and came out clean. But Malwarebytes still just froze.. I was busy yesterday working with the horses. The next step is trying the link Starcom provided.. won't be today... but soon... I will post and let ya'll know if it helps... and if not... what else to use.

That is just a link for SuperAntiSpyware - which is pretty good software. If nothing else, it's appears to have been time for a good cleaning anyway.

Although Starcom's link is a good one, I'd suggest getting SuperAntiSpyware from the source.

http://www.superantispyware.com/

The only other thing - besides waiting to hear from Malwarebytes support - would be to post in the Malwarebytes forums.
