Pinkerton Road closing down their forums and not producing any new games for the foreseeable future.

Read the news here.

Did Pinkerton ever secure the rights to Gabriel Knight? I would back again on Kickstarter for a new one.

Sierra still holds the rights, but there was always hope. Or at least producing new IP's with the same feeling such as Moebius or Gray Matter.

Sad..but not surprising given the thrust toward multiplayer combat games. I firmly believe that a game like GK 2 (the werewolf classic) with some vampires thrown in (with some zombies like GK1) with the excellent story line like the original GK stories would be great..especially with today's graphics. Kickstarter, etc, come on !!

An old GK fan..and a Grey Matter Jane J fan and supporter!

I absolutely loved Moebius & also the GK1 remake (& have played the original) - from what I can glean Moebius more so was the target of so much hatred & vitriol - I don't understand but in JJ's shoes would you really want to continue making thoughtful Adventure Games? It's another sad loss as the lady was so talented.

Chrissie, I didn't understand that either. I didn't think Moebius was Jane Jensen's best game, but I still thought it was pretty great and stood out more than a lot of other games I've played and enjoyed. duh Though I very much enjoyed Broken Age and Broken Sword 5, two other games I supported on Kickstarter, I enjoyed Moebius more and was completely baffled by the reaction to it. (The only Kickstarted game I'd rate more highly is Dreamfall Chapters.) Then again, I'm used to being in the minority. I do wish the plot had been explored more, and there was more of a sense of closure, but that was probably a budgeting issue. The relationship between Malachi and David was terrific, and it would have been nice to have seen that develop more in sequels. I also really wanted to see Gray Matter 2 and Anglophile Adventure. I was actually even more interested in those than in Moebius, and now it looks like we won't ever see them. sad

I loved the remake, too, of course. I still consider the original the definitive version, but it was essentially the same game, so what's not to like? Sure the cast wasn't as strong, but they still did a great job. Plus you can't go wrong with Dave Fennoy (Lee from The Walking Dead) as Dr. John. grin That was one performance I actually enjoyed more than the original. I really liked the extra, creepy scene that was added later in the game. Also, the scenery is gorgeous. My friend, Thorsgoats (his user name here smile), didn't start gaming until later in life and has no interest VGA games, no matter how pretty they are. He didn't enjoy GK1 at all but loved the sequels, yet he has expressed an interest in playing the remake as he finds the graphics a lot more pleasing. He's even more behind on games than I am, but hopefully when he finds the time, he'll come around to GK1 as well once he tries the remake.

Personally, Jane Jensen is one of my favorite game writers, along with Ragnar Tornquist, and losing her entirely would be a great loss. We can only hope that she comes back to adventure gaming eventually in some capacity.
