Demosthenes -- thanks for the hint on the "depth of field" option. I'm going right in and turning it off!

Has anybody listened all the way through the music that plays when you see the main menu? I've listened four times.

Dadguy -- I know exactly what you mean about just standing and watching things! I'm going to restart my game and NOT do the thing that makes Yeesha mad. I want to see if that changes anything.

Jenny -- yes, let us know! It has occurred to me that perhaps they didn't get any Dutch voice actors, but wanted to reach their fans in the Netherlands, so they put Dutch subtitles in with the English voice acting.

Hmmm. Wouldn't it be interesting to see Atrus speaking French or Italian? I'd probably have to reinstall the game though. Wouldn't be worth it.

It's still taking me awhile to get used to the cursor. I like it's flexibility, that you can push and pull things. It looks weird as a pointer, though. I'm not sure I like looking at a severed 3 dimensional hand. I keep wanting to connect it to an arm. Somehow the flat 2 dimensional cursor in the previous Myst games didn't have that association.

I might just read the manual and see if I'm missing out on something The Hand can do.

Liz,

You do not need any crystals for the puzzle. The crystals are built into the machine. You just have to figure out the settings to load the right crystal and right color for each of the five little doors.

Journal note:

Someone mentioned earlier that the journals can be recited by the actors rather than reading them. This is done with Yeesha's amulet... open the book then click the amulet and the actor will read the content. The reason I mention this (it's been pointed out already once in this topic) is that the actors do such a great job on the readings...it should not be missed.

Demosthenes DOF is not supported by this card I'll check for driver updates. While playing Aura and having problem with the temple circle puzzle I tried alot of different things to be able to view this puzzle up close, nothing worked finally we switched the Geforce out for another graphic card
(ATI) older version, which worked well and I was able to proceed. Of course this older version didn't work with revelation, so it was switch back. I read on the ubi supportsite that that I need the Geforce fx only? I will buy this card
and if I have to switch it out to play another game I will be done, I have patience with the game not for installing hardware. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

NO! NO! NO! What's happening?????
Holding my breath in anticipation for the beginning and it WON'T START!!!!

Why does the play button say "play disabled (disc 2)"?

What is wrong? Somebody, quick, HELP ME, PLEASE!

A few minutes later:
Oh, Crimeny, never mind. I am so hyper about this game I can't think straight. I had disc 1 in and then when I got that message and put disc 2 in, still got the same message. Had to quit out of game and go back in with disc 2 to get it to start. Now I am getting the message my graphics card needs to be updated. I think I am getting a migraine.

Everybody got that message about updating the video drivers (almost). I left mine at the old level and have done just fine. Some areas of the game are more demanding and could give trouble (like a crash to desktop). If and when that happens, you'll probably make the move to update the drivers.

Good luck. Have fun!

Well, turning off depth-of-field is a definite improvement! Why'd they put it in in the first place, I wonder? They think people WANT the graphics blurry???

Someone told me how to make the cursor less realistic. You can change the cursor's color and fade it down to minimum. It now looks like a game cursor and not like a real hand.

Has anybody else tried to pick up the gold dragon fly on the railing?

Hmmm...cryptic. I think I'll go think about this for an hour or so. Then I'll read the manual.

I've just started. I got the message about the video card and I have the ATI 9800 so don't know why I got that message. I just ignored it and so far so good. Am really curious about those Dutch subtitles as well....

Becky, I made that comment about the slider cryptic on purpose--didn't want to spoil it for anyone.

Taz, I have an ATI 9800 also, but I didn't get that message. I don't think it depends on which video card you have, but on how up-to-date the drivers are for your card. Since I just got my computer less than six months ago, the drivers are apparently up to date...

Thanks, Richard

Jenny- thanx for info on drivers. My computer is 10 months old so maybe I need and update and that's why I got that message. If I have trouble I'll look into it. Rightnow I'm trying to figure out how to turn the power on....

Richard, there is a place to turn on subtitles under the "Options" in the main menu. I think it's under the "game options".

Margie, did you see that box on the wall in the room where Yeesha was looking at her bugs... think

I have restored power, read journal, took picture of crystals, put them in the order they show in the journal, press center button...nothing happens. Have static in the viewer, what am I doing wrong? Do I have to complete the puzzle in the fireplace before I do crystals? Help and thank you

Hi-- Does an 'X' in one of the Option boxes mean that option is active or inactive? Thanks for your time.

X in the box means active.

Marty -- write the walkthrough in Russian? Wow!

Much nicer not to make Yeesha mad.

Thanks, Becky!!! I thought X in the box meant inactive. Was just going to post and ask why I couldn't see any birds flying around. Took the X out of all the graphic boxes but still see clouds moving and the water rippling. Just no birds or bugs other than the blue beetles. What a timely answer you gave!!!

Msblue: Double check the crystals and colors. You'll have to 'test' the last 3 shapes, cause it's kind of hard to tell Exactly what size they are, so work on those and you'll get it right.

Housewife: Yes, you are on Spire, the prison world of Sirrus. This can get a bit confusing, but just read 'Everything' you can and it shouldn't be too bad and keep a good eye for details.

I love this game so far! But I am stuck because of my eye sight! The book puzzle in Yeesha's room. I know they are the names of the family and you push the books in chronological order. But there is no C in the Dni book. And the lettering on the books is almost impossible to read for me and looks almost nothing like the book on the table. So I am asking for a little help! I could link out to the other worlds but I would like to finish this first!

*UPDATE* I solved it after HOURS of determination!!! But want to know what was the point??? Things to see but that was it..... off to see the other worlds!

Gosh, I hope this game isn't too linear, cause I didn't even SEE Yeesha's bedroom on Tomahna before I ran off to Spire and Haven!! Am I going to be able to go BACK???

I'm still stuck in Spire at that control station for the rock ship. Guess I need to go fiddle with it some more. Still can't figure out how to make the gosh dern thing fly when I get in it.

PLAYING ON PC: World of Warcraft...nothing else...there is no need for ANY other game when you have THIS one to play!! LOL

I just tried to put an X in the subtitles box, Richard, and you are right--it won't work.

I think I've figured out what that "subtitles only available in Dutch" means: the only time you can access the subtitles is when you are playing the Dutch language version of the game...

Dragonia: The point of being able to access the lower level of Yeesha's room will be evident later when you return from one of the prison islands. For now, just enjoy the view.

Girlgeek: No, you have no linearity issues at this point. You could have explored the other areas before or after leaving Tomahna for the prison islands. Also, regarding enabling the ship to fly; I presume you read my spoiler from page 3 of this Quest... I am pretty sure that the secret is as I wrote it. Perhaps you are having trouble getting the power levels to the ones I suggested?

Quest on!
